If you happen to be in Aurora, Illinois any time over the next six months, be sure to stop by the pop-up replica of Stan Mikita's Donuts. Feel free to take a selfie in a Wayne or Garth wig at the public library, or check out a replica of the Campbell family basement at the community college. Or maybe just enjoy any of the dozens of contests, events and celebrations the town is hosting in honor of the 25th anniversary of the movie Wayne's World.

Long before the Kardashians captured the public's imagination, three sisters from Hungary established that you can become famous just for being famous, with only a dash of acting ability and a whole lot of personality. And with her mellifluous moniker, glittering glamour, multiple marriages and bawdy bon mots, Gabor fully embodied and embraced the role of Hollywood royalty.
All the "daahlings," décolletage and drama were carefully calculated, creating both an air of majesty and mystery that made Gabor irresistible to men, women and the gossip pages, catapulting her past sisters Magda and Eva to a level of fame that allowed her to draw headlines into her 90s.
"I'm a very serious person," Gabor said in a The New Yorker profile decades ago. "I couldn't have built up this idiotic image of myself all these years if I hadn't been serious." Born in Hungary in 1917 as Sari Gabor (although she went out of her way to obfuscate her age...

Oscar winner Cloris Leachman just turned 90 on April 30, and she can't f--king believe it either.
The actress has been working steadily in Hollywood since the mid-1950s, with a filmography so long it would take another 90 years to read it. She's known for her TV roles in "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and the spinoff "Phyllis," plus "The Beverly Hillbillies," "The Facts of Life," "Malcolm in the Middle," and "Raising Hope"; and film roles in "Young Frankenstein," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Spanglish," "The Wedding Ringer," and "The Last Picture Show," where she picked up her Academy Award. Leachman was also the oldest contestant to compete on "Dancing With the Stars," at age 82 in DWTS Season 7.
"Crazy Cloris" was a hoot then, and she seems just as sassy now. Check out her birthday cake, which she showed off on Twitter after thanking fans for their kind wishes, and gently...

She made her millions as the director of Wayne’s World and The Beverly Hillbillies, but the film-maker would rather be remembered for her riot-causing punk series The Decline of Western Civilization
Penelope Spheeris’s home, near Laurel Canyon in the Hollywood Hills, doesn’t look like it belongs to a punk icon. It’s airy and minimalist, with grey tiled floor and white carpet. We’re sitting on white sofas in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, and three small dogs are running around.
Spheeris bought the place in 1974, then completely rebuilt it in the 90s with the money she made from directing a string of box-office-friendly comedies. But she’s in no mood to reminisce about the likes of Wayne’s World, The Beverly Hillbillies or Little Rascals. “The only movies I could get released were movies that I basically just sold out on and took the money,” she sighs.

It's hard to believe it's been 11 years since we first met big screen heartthrob Vincent Chase (Adrien Grenier) and his boys, Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon), Eric "E" Murphy (Kevin Connolly) and Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) on HBO's "Entourage." And, who can forget our favorite hot-headed agent, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven)?! The eight-season series was filled to the brim with celebrity cameos, hot Hollywood nightclubs and a whole lot of partying -- and we loved every minute of it. While we finally get to see these boys back together on-screen in the "Entourage" movie on June 5, toofab is taking a look at what Vinny and his pack-mates have been up to since the show premiered over a decade ago in 2004. Grenier was probably best known for starring in the movie "Drive Me Crazy" before he nabbed his "Entourage" role. He later co-starred with Anne Hathaway in "The Devil Wears Prada" and directed two documentaries,...

The 1990s: a time when Sleepwalkers, Burt Reynolds, No Escape, Chevy Chase and F/X/2 could top the Us box office...
By the 1990s, studios were waking up to movie marketing, and the era of the blockbuster. Tim Burton's Batman, released in summer 1989, had introduced the idea of a big opening weekend, and modern movies now target their promotional work to get just that. As such, it's harder and harder for smaller films to snare the top slot at the Us box office, even for one weekend.
In the 1990s, particularly the first half of the 1990s, that wasn't so much the case though. In fact, many films that have long since fallen from the public conscious topped the chart. And in this piece, I've tried to capture some of them.
Inevitably, you're going to have heard of some of them, and what a UK dweller sees as a...

You won't hear any talk about vittles and varmints and cee-ment ponds on Malibu Country — premiering Friday at 8:30/7:30c on ABC — but there's no denying Reba McEntire's new series owes much to The Beverly Hillbillies. This fish-out-of-water comedy stars the country-music icon as Reba Gallagher, a freshly divorced Nashville mom and former singer who moves cross-country with her two impressionable teens to live in her ex-hubby's Malibu love shack. Also in tow: Reba's anything-goes mom, Lillie Mae, played by legendary comedian Lily Tomlin.

Want to make a Gen Xer feel old? Tell 'em that 20 years ago today, on February 14, 1992, "Wayne's World" was released in theaters. ("'Wayne's World' is 20? No way?!" "Way!") Lots of now middle-aged folks who spent too long living in their parents' basements (like Wayne and Garth) have fond memories of what may be the funniest film ever spawned from a "Saturday Night Live" sketch, a film that made a bankable movie comedy star out of Mike Myers, introduced the world to Tia Carrere, helped rescue Rob Lowe's career, and spawned countless catchphrases that viewers couldn't stop repeating. ("Schwing!" "We're not worthy!" "That's what she said!") Yet behind the movie's blissful silliness lies a secret story of off-camera bitterness and strife that threatened to keep the film from partying on -- as you'll read below. 1. Myers created the Wayne Campbell character long before "SNL," when he was still in high school.

Encino - One of the joys of life is not in the getting, but the ability to give. For the longest time I thought that sentiment was bullshit. It sounded more like the excuse of plague carrier. How can giving a trophy be better than receiving it? I found myself overblissed while handing hardware to a certain star.
In case you tuned in late to the Icon Celebration special on the Dumont network, that was me on the podium announcing that 2011’s Spirit of Bob Crane Award winner was Charlie Sheen. Tears of joy were shed on the trophy that’s a bronzed Sony Portable camera from ‘77. Who knew Charlie was capable of emotion - especially anyone who bought the DVD of Navy Seals.
Charlie continues the legacy of the late great of Bob Crane. Both starred in completely absurd sitcoms. Crane played Col. Hogan on Hogan’s Heroes. We...

Set in the backwoods of America, Winter's Bone eschews hillbilly cliche to create a moving drama of love and fortitude
Debra Granik's impressive second movie, Winter's Bone, adapted from a novel by Daniel Woodrell, takes place in President Truman's home state of Missouri and down near the border of Bill Clinton's native Arkansas. But the setting is of one of those pockets of impoverished rural America that have been in the backwoods for centuries in mountains ranges like the Adirondacks, the Appalachians and the Ozarks.
These white, Protestant communities are populated by the descendants of British immigrants who arrived in the 18th century and have retained old manners of speech, music and a tight-lipped clannishness from generation to generation. On occasion, the lives of these poor whites have become the subject of serious political attention. In the New Deal era of the 1930s, the Tennessee Valley Authority sought...

Concord, Nh - The Rad Girls prove that women can be out of control without beating each other senseless. The trio of Ramona Ca$h, Munchie and Darling Clementine are in the midst of their third season of mayhem on MavTV. How could I refuse a chance to talk women who figured out how to give themselves bikini waxes using a car bumper?
Ouch. The trio called the Party Favors hotline from various parts of the Southwest including the lonely highway from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Munchie swore they were just in a convenience store that seemed a location from The House of a 1,000 Corpses. Please excuse me if I attribute a quote to the wrong member since the conversation moved fast and furious.
The outrageous series wasn’t always on MavTV. Clementine explained, “We had a really fun run on Fuse. We got a lot of fans. They were like,...

This week, we need your help to produce the big-screen version of the news story featuring two brothers, a cave near Budapest and a late, minted grandmother
Here at guardian.co.uk/film/films we employ a huge, highly-trained team of scouts whose job it is to unearth possible projects from the most unlikely places. By definition, these places include Hungary. And so it was this week that our man in Budapest (technically, he's a child) sent us this story from which our latest multipound blockbuster is to be crafted.
Here's the gist: Budapest brothers Zsolt and Geza Peladi have spent their adult lives living in a cave outside the Hungarian capital, scraping a living by selling scrap. Suddenly, this week, their lives were turned upside down when a government delegation tracked them down and made a shocking declaration: the brothers were about to become billionaires.
