DOUBLE SUSPICION is one of those 'erotic' thrillers so beloved of the mid 1990s, directed by one Paul Ziller who is best known these days for turning out trash like STONEHENGE APOCALYPSE. This film is equally trashy, a shot-in-Canada cheapie in which Gary Busey's tired old cop hunts down a serial killer randomly nicknamed The Surgeon. Kim Cattrall hangs around in a brunette wig and does absolutely nothing at all, while Darlanne Fluegel bags a double role. The film is packed with scenes of male strippers doing their thing (makes a change from female, I guess) and some laughable overacting from those in support, although Busey is as fun as ever.

coverme69 July 2000The ever unique acting of Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon, Point Break, Under Siege) saves this cliched slasher/film noir movie.
Our star plays Dwight Meadows, a retired Seattle homicide cop who reluctantly returns to the force to stop a copycat serial killer who is imitating the grisly, sexual murders commited by a murderer nicknamed the Surgeon. As it turned out, Meadows had apprehended the Surgeon before, and the copycat killer wants the cop dead as well as his female victims. The case gets closer to home when the killer stalks Dwight's ex-wife Allison (Kim Cattral) and his new partner Dana (Darlanne Fluegal). With enough taunt tension and a gloomy atmosphere, "Breaking Point" looks like a pretty watchable movie. But if it weren't for the slightly dull performances by the secondary actors and the extremely predictable storyline, "Breaking Point" would have been an excellent movie. By far, Busey saves this flick
