With the help of a magic ticket, a young film fan is transported into the fictional world of his favorite action film character.
When Jack kills The Ripper, The Ripper says, "I'll be back!", to which Jack replies, "the hell you will!" The line, "I'll be back" has traditionally been used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in many movies since he first said it in The Terminator (1984).
This is one hell of a way to spend Christmas.
While in the real world (New York) Jack Slater plays a game of chicken with a taxi. When his car starts going down the alley, there clearly is a cable running across the floor attached to Jack Slater's car.
The only opening credits in this film are the ones for "Jack Slater IV".
The ITV premiere was heavily cut (presumably to fit a two hour schedule); from entire scenes including the burglar at Danny's house and subsequent police station scene to minor cuts to violence such as Arnold kicking a SWAT member in the testicles.
$15,338,241 (USA) (20 June 1993)
