In German-occupied Poland during World War II, Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazi Germans.
When Goeth tries to execute the rabbi, he pulls an automatic pistol from his pocket. When it doesn't fire, he repeatedly manually recharges the weapon by pulling back the slide. But in all of his eight or nine tries, the weapon never ejects a cartridge, meaning that the magazine was empty.
