A 90s retelling of the classic story.
The dungeon scenes were filmed at Seegrotte, Austria: an old mine which was flooded early in 1900's due to an underground water source and was later used by the Nazi's during the second war to conduct military research. The site is now open to the public and famous for its underground lake. The scene decoration of one of the prison cells, as well as the dragon-head boat are still kept intact at Seegrotte and could be visited.
Ooh. May I have this dance?
As D'Artagnan is preparing to leap up onto the fallen tree during the initial chase scene in which he is being pursued by Girard and his brothers, his rapier is conspicuously absent from its scabbard.
Two scenes were cut from the German cinema version to secure a "Not under 12" rating (The murder of the prisoner is cut completely (ca. 13 seconds) and the death of the bald headed man in the prison at the end is shortened (ca. 6 seconds).) Second DVD release is uncut ("Not under 16") and bears the note "Uncut version" on the sleeve.
