David Marciano opted not to return to the series after a contract dispute with Alliance Atlantis, the production company. His character, Ray, was replaced by Callum Keith Rennie. The writers wrote Rennie into the story by saying the original Ray Vecchio had gone deep undercover with the mob.

Throughout the series, Fraser is shown standing outside an ornate building described as the Canadian Consulate. In fact, the Chicago branch of the Consulate General of Canada is located on the 24th floor of the Prudential Building, which is a glass and steel building without the ornate entrance portrayed.
