Follows the personal and professional lives of six twenty to thirty-something-year-old friends living in Manhattan.
Courteney Cox was asked to play Rachel, but she wanted to play Monica, as she thought she could do better with the character.
Can you see my nipples through this shirt?
Rachel: No, but don't worry. I'm sure they're still there.
In "The one with Pheobe's cookies" Jack Geller explains to Chandler that his in-laws think he is a lawyer and if Chandler ever meets them to "play along." In "The one with the cake" Judy Geller says that her parents died very young.
When the "The One That Could Have Been" was divided into two parts for syndication, a sequence was added that had the ending credits superimposed. It shows fat Monica dancing to some music while eating some food. The original hourlong airing of "The One That Could Have Been" did not have the credits at the end of the first half hour and this scene was not involved.
The episodes that have been released on video/DVD were originally prepared for international (outside the U.S.) television distribution. These versions feature many scenes and/or pieces of dialogue that were trimmed prior to their broadcasts on U.S. TV. These unedited versions are not available on Blu-Ray or through digital platforms such as NetFlix.
