Choppy and ridiculous
The book "The Stand" is a very thick and long book. And when hearing about this movie I knew that it would be impossible for the producers to have ever scene in the movie, but they have cut it so messy and choppy you have to be glad that you read the book to understand how everything is going on. I was able to follow it, but for people who didn't read the book, they would be totally and utterly lost. Such changes as cutting out characters and replacing them with others was a major disaster and had me wondering how they were going to fix it. You never fully understand the whole deal with Leo Rockway and by having Lucy be the one who found him was a major mistake. Cutting out Rita Blakemore and replacing her Nadine was terrible too. Leo was part of the reason Nadine totally decided to move west. Also, not having Jess Rider in the movie you were never able to understand who was Fran's baby's father. Also, the performance of such characters as Randall Flagg and Harold Lauder were horrible. You never understood them to be as mean and heartless as they are in the book. The parts that were accurate were good, but the rest stunk. The acting could also be better. Now I do understand that a movie based off a book cannot be completely accurate, but this is ridiculous! There were too many changes to even say that this was "The Stand".
