Only Fools and Horses, the legendary British sitcom created by John Sullivan, remains a timeless comedy gem. First hitting screens in 1981, it revolves around the Trotter brothers, Del Boy and Rodney, as they chase dreams of striking it rich through hilariously ill-fated schemes. Living in Peckham, South London, the duo operates their market trading business out of a beaten-up yellow Reliant Regal three-wheeler van.
Del Boy, the older sibling, is a cheeky, quick-witted wheeler-dealer with grand ideas of becoming a millionaire. Rodney, on the other hand, is more level-headed and forever frustrated by his brother’s far-fetched plans.

The show isn’t just about laughs, it’s about family, friendship, and everyday struggles. Alongside Del and Rodney are unforgettable characters like their Grandad, and quirky friends including Trigger, Boycie, and Denzil. From slapstick comedy moments to touching emotional scenes, the series beautifully balanced humor and heart.

For animation vet Simon Otto (the “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise), directing Netflix’s “That Christmas” was like making the ultimate Richard Curtis film — with Richard Curtis. The fact that it was animated was a breakthrough for both; Otto had never directed a feature before and Curtis was new to the medium. Their collaboration resulted in a whimsical holiday treat.
“That Christmas” explores how a blizzard turns the holiday upside down in the hamlet of Wellington-on-Sea, with Brian Cox’s Santa as narrator. Curtis adapted his YA novels with Peter Souter, but worked closely with Otto in getting the most out of his story for animation. It was produced by Locksmith Animation, with Dneg doing the animation.
“It was a journey for both of us,” Otto told IndieWire. “The idea of ‘Love Actually’ for kids was thrown around. It has flavors of it, but it’s not ‘Love Actually.

The BBC has revealed more details about this year’s Comic Relief telethon, which will be broadcast on 15th March on BBC One.
Comic Relief launched in 1985 with a telethon that has since become embedded in British culture. Lenny Henry, who co-founded Comic Relief with Richard Curtis, recently revealed that he will be stepping down as host after this year’s telethon. Henry said of his decision that “when we first started Comic Relief back in 1985, I never dreamed...

1990s sketch series The Fast Show is hitting the road for a 30th anniversary tour around the UK, and here are the details.
When talking about British comedy in the 1990s, it is impossible to overstate the impact of The Fast Show. With a plethora of characters that have successfully stood the test of time, the series itself stands up remarkably well to repeat viewings.
Although many of the characters were well known for their catchphrases – has anybody ever been measured up for a suit in the last thirty years without being able to resist the temptation to say “suits you sir! – there was a darker edge to the writing.
A good example is Rowley Birkin, a Paul Whitehouse character who is usually played as a babbling alcoholic. The final episode of series two features an unusually restrained performance, where the audience stops laughing and are stunned into silence as...

Richard Curtis does not plan to write any more films. The 66-year-old screenwriter is famous for penning romantic comedies such as 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' and 'Love Actually' but has ruled out writing another movie as he finds his work repetitive.Richard told Jon Snow on the Snowcast: "I'm not sure I'll ever write another film because I like other people's films more than mine now."I remember the shock when I saw 'Notting Hill'. I thought, 'Oh my God it's exactly the same film as 'Four Weddings!'"Curtis – who also had TV hits with 'Blackadder' and 'The Vicar of Dibley' – admits that he was left exasperated by the way his films were marketed. He said: "When I see trailers for my movies, everything's in the wrong order, they give away the plots, they use shots that aren't in the film.

Dawn French and Claudia Winkleman have posed in a picture together, in which the pair look bizarrely similar.
The Vicar Of Dibley star, 65, struck an uncanny resemblance to the Strictly Come Dancing host, 51, in a playful Instagram selfie taken as they filmed a skit based on Winkleman’s hit BBC series The Traitors.
The sketch, which will appear as part of BBC’s Red Nose Day programming on 17 March, will see French perform alongside her longtime comedy partner Jennifer Saunders, according to the BBC.
In an Instagram post captioned: “Coming soon…#traitors #comicrelief,” French and Winkleman smile next to eachother as the comedian wears a jet black wig, cut into a bob with a fringe, resembling the presenter’s iconic hairstyle.

Kit Hesketh-Harvey, the musician, composer and screenwriter, died of natural causes, a coroner has ruled.
The artist died suddenly at the age of 65 from heart disease, the family told The Independent.
He was in the bath, listening to Radio 3 and preparing for one of his Kit & McConnel comedy cabaret shows at the time of his death on 1 February.
Hesketh-Harvey, who performed for King Charles, enjoyed a prolific career that included writing the screenplay for director James Ivory’s 1987 film Maurice. The film starred a young Hugh Grant in one of his first onscreen roles.
He was the brother of Sarah Sands, journalist and former editor of the Evening Standard. Sands – who is also coping with the loss of her actor ex-husband Julian Sands who went missing last month during a mountain hike in California – spoke of her shock at her brother’s death at the time, telling The Independent: “Kit was dazzling – clever,...

Kit Hesketh-Harvey was one of those surprisingly rare performers whose personality was the same on stage as off. When I saw him in the many revues he would write and perform, the audience basked in his humour and genuine warmth.
You could say that Hesketh-Harvey was the last of the old-style Vaudevillians, keeping alive the spirit of Noël Coward, while unafraid to surprise his audience by stepping into the caustic territory of Barry Humphries. He always revelled in that quintessentially English humour, self-deprecating but biting, drawing on a world of shared references from British culture, while at the same time carving out its own originality.
His version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “A Policeman’s Lot Is Not a Happy One” turned the jolly jape of a song into a critique of modern-day policing. “They want evidence that can’t be circumvented. So, invent it.” Delivered with such a smile,...

The famous Only Fools and Horses scene where Del Boy falls through the bar has been named the funniest sitcom moment of all time.
The BBC programme won the top spot in a poll revealed by TV channel Gold to celebrate 30 years of the comedy channel.
In the scene, Del Boy – played by Sir David Jason – goes to lean back on the bar that he had been resting on. However, he hadn’t noticed that the bar was a liftable slot for waiters to move through.
As he goes to lean back on it while saying “play it nice and cool son, nice and cool” the bar slot is lifted, causing him to fall straight onto the ground. Meanwhile, his friend Trigger turns around to look for him.
In a poll commissioned by Gold to determine the results, 2000 British adults and children voted for their favourite scene.

Dawn French is to reprise her much-loved role as the nation’s favourite Vicar, Geraldine Grainger of the Parish of Dibley, for ‘The Vicar Of Dibley in Lockdown’.
During lockdown, post lockdown and pre-another-lockdown, Geraldine has been writing and delivering monthly sermons to her parishioners via Zoom…when she can make it work. These new thoughts on life (and chocolate) will air after repeat showings of classic episodes of the multi-award-winning ‘The Vicar of Dibley’, this Christmas on BBC One.
Geraldine will be helped by Hugo Horton (James Fleet) as well some of the local primary school children as the Vicar discusses all the important topics, including how it’s never a good idea to let Owen Newitt cut your hair, or make home-made wine. The very dearly departed Alice Tinker is also still an important presence in the village, with some residents still looking for lost buttons and the arrival of decimalisation.

In this week’s special Natpe: Miami International TV Newswire, Variety looks at the AVoD revolution through a new deal between Tubi and Mexico’s Azteca, ITV and Kew Media sell big across the Americas and two high-profile HBO Latin America series join Hulu Japan’s Latin American showcase.
Tubi and Azteca Presage AVoD Revolution
Tubi, the world’s largest AVoD (Advertising Supported Video on Demand) player, based out of San Francisco, signed this week a strategic partnership with Mexico’s broadcast network TV Azteca to launch a localized Spanish-language app.
As part of the deal, TV Azteca will sell ads on behalf of Tubi while promoting the service to the company’s audience across several platforms. Several of TV Azteca’s more popular titles will also be made available to Tubi members in Mexico, including: “Exatlón Mexico,” “MasterChef,” and “Lo que La Gente Cuente.”
That’s the deal. More will come.

BBC Studios and Sky have joined forces to add a raft of catalogue comedy and drama from the pubcaster to the Sky platform and its Now TV streaming service.
The deal kicks in next month and includes dramas “McMafia” and “Spooks” and classic BBC comedies “The Vicar of Dibley” and “Only Fools and Horses.”
The lineup will expand over the coming year, Sky said. The shows will be made available under the UKTV channel brands Alibi and Gold on Sky and Now TV.
The deal comes as the BBC’s efforts to expand its own iPlayer catch-up service face regulatory scrutiny. The pubcaster is also teaming with commercial counterpart ITV to launch the BritBox streaming service in the U.K., which will lean heavily on its vast catalogue.

Alright Anglophiles, welcome to Day 2 of our investigation of streaming services for the lovers of foreign television.
From the opening and the title of the service, you can probably tell BritBox is exactly what it says it is -- TV for those who dig all things British.
Well, not all things. Things brought to you directly from two British networks, BBC and ITV. It's a decent offering unless you happen to love Channel 4. That's for another time!
What sets BritBox apart from other services are its comedies and soap operas.
It's the only streamer to offer Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Casualty and Holby City (my favorite!).
However, they only offer current seasons of each, so if it's your hope to start somewhere in the archives of these shows or catch up on previous series (as they call seasons across the pond) you'll have to find another way to do it.

The Love Actually Red Nose Day Special already aired on Thursday, May 25 on NBC, but in case you missed it, the short is now available to watch online! The script for the short was written by Richard Curtis and it wonderfully revisits the characters of the classic 2003 film Love Actually. It shows us what our favorite characters are up to in 2017. It's a pretty great reunion special that I think fans of the original film will enjoy and appreciate.
Love Actually is one of my favorite romantic comedies and I thought this was a real treat. The cast that returns includes Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Colin Firth, Lucia Moniz, Liam Neeson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Olivia Olson, Bill Nighy, Marcus Brigstocke and Rowan Atkinson. Patrick Dempsey also shows up. When talking about the special, Curtis had this to say:

Even Anna Chancellor can’t rescue this dire dramedy about a woman with five days to live
Exactly zero of the jokes land in Joan Carr-Wiggin’s comedy-drama about a woman who finds out she has five days to live. Grace (Anna Chancellor) vows to finally read Middlemarch (out loud, no less) and enjoy her last few days with her teenage daughters and sweet, bumbling husband (The Vicar of Dibley’s James Fleet). Chaos ensues when her Pulitzer-prize winning ex-husband (John Hannah, doing his best Peter Capaldi impression) shows up to “win Grace back”. Yes, the exposition is that blunt.
Unfortunately, even Chancellor, so brilliant and sharp as Lix Storm in BBC2’s newsroom drama The Hour, can’t save this undignified affair, gritting her teeth through writer-director Carr-Wiggin’s cringeworthy script.
