This movie chronicles the life of Lane Frost, 1987 PRCA Bull Riding World Champion, his marriage and his friendships with Tuff Hedeman (three-time World Champion) and Cody Lambert.
At the time of filming, a bronze memorial statue of Lane Frost riding a bull was dedicated at the Frontier Days Park in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Luke Perry attended the dedication, as did Frost's parents and widow.

The film shows the "Challenge of Champions" between Frost and Red Rock as a series of 3 match-ups, all of which taking place in Texas. However, the Challenge was a really series of 7 match-ups (4 of which Frost won) and took place in California, Oregon, and Utah.
