  • After the original classic animated film "The Last Before Time", there came many direct-to-video release sequels with which the original director and animation crew had no relation with. A lot of the sequels, and there are many of them, are not all that good, especially not when compared to the original. The original "Land Before Time" showed the dinosaur world as being tough and frightening even to viewers. The sequels are not so frightening or tough, less violent, and are notorious for their reaching out to really young children audiences with their singalong songs. And the first of the sequels, being this film, is a bit like that.

I have only recently seen this film for the first time in years. I had seen a few of the later sequels before this and was very unimpressed. But the first sequels is by far, much better than those that followed. It sticks the closest to the original film's style and although nowhere near as good, is still a fine family film. This is the one sequel in the series I think the whole family will enjoy.

This one also has the best peril in it, making the tyrannosauruses (called sharp teeth) a lot more frightening and compelling villains than those that followed. And unlike the later sharp teeth, who mostly just growled, these ones roar like the original Sharptooth, the antagonist from the first film. And they are more violent and frightening and thus, more convincing. The other villains are a pair of egg-stealing struthiomimuses named Ozzy and Strut who are bumbling villains just trying to find lunch, but keep missing their meals. Ozzy and Strut are actually very comical and somewhat likable villains, even though they aren't nice guys. And in fact, their song "Eggs" is the only song in the entire series that I find catchy.

The film also retains the qualities and characteristics of the character the best. They are more serious in the first sequel than the later ones. True, they do sing annoying songs, but are still shown struggling to grow up and mature in life and prove that they believe they can take care of themselves, very much like the audience members who primarily watch movies like this. But Littlefoot is still the most cautious, Cera the strongest, and so on and so forth. The character of Chomper was a fine addition to the cast and thankfully, he doesn't talk like he would in later sequels.

Bottom line, out of all the notoriously bad sequels that followed the original "Land Before Time", the second one "The Great Valley Adventure" is by far, the best out of them all. And it's not all that bad really. I actually found it to be quite entertaining in its own way. So this one I can recommend. But those that followed after this one, I can't really speak as highly of.
  • "The Land Before Time". What can you say about it? It's a classic film with glorious animation, relatable characters, groundbreaking music, and a compelling, heart-wrenching story. There's no denying it had a huge impact on me as a three or four-year-old. It will remain a favorite of mine until the day I die.

Now imagine my surprise as a kid to find out that there had already been five sequels made. I wasn't too picky, so I gave them a watch. Back then, seeing more adventures of Littlefoot and his friends was pretty much all I cared about. Now, as a critic, I must see them with a more analytic and observant eye.

Some fans of the original have disregarded these sequels. The general reason for this is that they have a somewhat softer tone and never strike as much emotion as the original. Therefore, I agree, none are as good.

The questions you have to ask with a sequel are "Are the characters continued well? Do they become more developed? Does the movie follow the logic of the original?" In the case of the Land Before Time sequels, the answer is yes on all accounts. Because the characters are so close to me, watching them mature as the series progresses is like seeing a friend or sibling grow morally or spiritually. Case in point, "The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure".

In 1994, six years after the original was released, this movie, as well as its successors, was brought out straight to video. But there's so much effort put into elements that kids wouldn't care about that it easily could have been theatrical material. For direct-to-video fare, the animation is surprisingly first-rate. It's not quite as stunning as Bluth's animation, but great all the same. The score by Michael Tavera almost matches the brilliance of James Horner's phenomenal score from the first movie. There's good money in this.

As the opening song suggests, this movie takes place very shortly after the end of the first movie. Littlefoot the apatosaurus, Cera the triceratops, Petrie the pteranodon, Ducky the saurolophus, and Spike the stegosaurus have made it to the Great Valley, and are living a peaceful and playful life under the watch of their families.

We have mostly new voice actors, the only exception being Candace Hutson reprising her role as Cera. Veteran voice actor Jeff Bennett voices Petrie with the nasal consonance that Will Ryan had. Kenneth Mars, who is most famous for his voicing role as King Triton, is likable and solemn as Littlefoot's grandfather. Heather Hogan is cute as Ducky, but doesn't quite have the innocence that Judith Barsi so rightfully put into the character. Scott McAfee voices Littlefoot in the RAS trilogy (movies 2, 3, and 4), and out of all the voice actors for him in the entire series, McAfee is my favorite, sounding masculine enough in the high voice Littlefoot is known to have.

We're then introduced to the villains Ozzy and Strut. They are struthiomimus brothers, as verified in a lyric of their song "Eggs", which is the catchiest song in the movie. Strut loves to graze on plants much to the annoyance of Ozzy, who is most fond of eggs.

During a night that Ozzy and Strut go out to steal an egg, Cera wakes up Littlefoot, Ducky, Spike, and Petrie and tells them that she's sick of being treated like a hatchling, and tries to work out a plan to go on strike. Littlefoot is tired of being a kid, but is still somewhat opposed to the plan. But when they notice Ozzy and Strut walking away from Ducky's nest with an egg, they all see their chance to prove themselves independent. They chase them into the Mysterious Beyond, the land outside of the Great Valley, and straight into a cave where the darkness causes everyone to panic and run amok, resulting in a landslide. The egg coincidentally rolls safely back into Ducky's nest. The gang lands in the Mysterious Beyond relatively unharmed, and come across a large egg that they mistake for the one Ozzy and Strut stole. The five work together to bring it home again, only to find Ducky's egg there.

Believing that Ducky's egg was there all along, they come to the conclusion that Ozzy and Strut stole this one from a different nest. They start to think it might be fun to raise the hatchling as their own, so they stand around the egg waiting for it to hatch. When it does, they realize that the egg contained a baby tyrannosaurus. But Littlefoot shows the rest of the gang that he's harmless and they welcome him into the valley, which starts the song "You're One of Us Now". I like the spirit of this song, but the lyrics aren't a lot. There's even a part where Littlefoot seems to cram too many words into one line.

We also get the best fight scene in the series, complete with dutch angles, when a local battle breaks out between two tyrannosaurs and the adult dinosaurs, with the kids participating somewhat. One of the most memorable scenes is when Littlefoot's grandpa fights off one of the sharpteeth in a lake.

The film delivers a good message on making the most of your young years and how fun it is to be a kid. Yes, that isn't the strongest message when you compare it with that of the original, but here's how I see it: The first movie tells the story of these characters' greatest redemption. They will continue to learn throughout the series. And if you ask me, this is a good place to start. It's certainly not as good as the original, but it, and (most of) its successors, are good sequels in their own rights.

7/10 for "The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure".
  • Along with "The Time of the Great Giving", "The Great Valley Adventure" is one of the better sequels. As a sequel it is decent, but the original which is a timeless, haunting and poignant masterpiece will always be the best. The film does have its problems; it is too short, I did find the songs forgettable (with the exception of "Eggs"-that was catchy), the dialogue uninspired and the plot meandering in places. Consequently it lacks the heart of its predecessor. However, there is some nice colourful animation and above average editing, and it was a delight hearing the heart-rending main theme from the original again. This is definitely the Land Before Time sequel with the best peril, with the sharp teeth quite sinister sometimes. The main villains, called Ozzy and Strut are quite likable and very funny. When I first saw this when I was little I actually thought Tim Curry voiced Ozzy, there are parts when he sounds like him. Actually it was Jeff Benett and he did a great job with the voice, I barely recognised him. The voice acting was very good, with Heather Hogan delightful as Ducky(if somewhat lacking the innocence and vulnerability of Judith Barsi) and Kenneth Mars dignified as Grandpa. The best asset of this sequel though was Chomper, he is absolutely adorable and by far the best character of the movie and possibly the cutest supporting character in any of the sequels put together. The part when he and Littlefoot say goodbye at the end was the closest I came to crying, and I did genuinely have tears welling up at that bit. Overall, while lacking the heart and charm of its predecessor, it is a decent sequel and easily one of the better sequels of the Land Before Time franchise. 6/10 Bethany Cox
  • My Take: Decent straight-to-video effort.

Granted, sparks won't fly freely in the direct-to-video sequel THE LAND BEFORE TIME II: THE GREAT VALLEY ADVENTURE, but it's good enough to satisfy your kids hunger for fun. It's a film where you could just leave the kids and allow yourself to do something else. It's harmless, family movie, which, surprisingly, I found decent.

Like all direct-to-video efforts, expect it to have a low-quality plot, weak characterizations and childish situations. But with all it's low shots, you can just look in your child's eyes and see how you rate the film. I remember watching this non-stop sequels over and over again when I was a kid, in other words, I was a big fan of all this stuff. But know, THE LAND BEFORE TIME II has dated badly. Now, I remember how inferior the new plot is to the original's plot. But, rating as a kid flick, it's something to keep the kids busy. It's a bit better than the other sequels that followed.

By the end, upon seeing the eyes of the kids, you decide what rating you'll give to the film, but I give it, at least ***, a high rating for a film that isn't that good on quality. Nevertheless, it provides as much fine fun to kids and as decent enough as I remember.

Video movie rating: *** out of 5.
  • Alright, so the original was a little on the cute side, but it had a sense of wonder, of youthful innocence and to cut a long story short was a moving tale of love, friendship and courage.

However, Part 2 is no more than a Disney-style cartoon, cute and twee through-and-through. There's no real sense of awe or danger - it's more like a day in the life of a young dinosaur. Any kind of reality is crushed by the unwise inclusion of some insufferably bad songs. There is a cute baby T-Rex, but his parents lack the presence of the T-Rex in the first film. Other hazards include two egg-stealing Struthiomimids who, in the tradition of the most melodramatic cartoon villains, have ex-public schoolboy accents. Very silly.

There are moments when the film starts showing promise - the swamp scene, the journey into the Mysterious Beyond, but overall it's just a let-down. See the original instead, and if you've seen it then go straight to Part 3 of this series. Only undemanding kids will find anything of interest in this harmless, twee film.
  • I finally was able to watch all the Land Before Time sequels, as silly as they may be, I loved the original Land Before Time and I read a lot of these scary comments, I was still curious about them. So I was expecting nothing but trash when it came to the first sequel, granted I know that the singing doesn't really do much for the story and it's a bit stupid, but actually I thought this was a decent family movie that is very enjoyable. It's a great story for the kids, it's harmless and has great morals. The reason I think there's a lot of hate on the sequels is because of the love we all have for the first Land Before Time, but I think this is just a new way for the generation of today to enjoy the same stories we had.

Littlefoot and his friends are living happily in their new home, under their families' watchful eyes. When the gang tries to get to the sheltering grass to play, but land in the quicksand surrounding it, the grownups come and rescue them, then lecture them that night. Cera then tells the others that they need to prove they are independent by running away for a while into the Mysterious Beyond, a location just outside the valley. Before they leave, they notice two egg nappers stealing an egg from Ducky's nest. They chase them into the Beyond, during which a landslide occurs. The egg rolls safely back to the nest, but the five are under the impression that it was destroyed in the landslide. Then, Ducky notices what looks like the egg, only slightly larger. The gang "return" this egg to the Valley, only to find out that the stolen egg and this one are not the same. They decide to hatch it, nonetheless, until the egg hatches, revealing a baby sharptooth. While the others run away, Littlefoot decides he's safe, and tries to raise the hatchling on leaves. When he hears the others calling for help, as the egg nappers Ozzy and Strut are attacking them, he runs to their aid, while "Chomper" follows him. Chomper's shadow frightens the villains away, after which Littlefoot exchanges introductions between Chomper and the others and they accept him. But how is the Valley going to accept a sharp tooth? You'll have to watch to find out.

Yeah, the plot is predictable, the singing isn't necessary, and the story may be a little Barney-like, but don't go into these sequels expecting Citizen Kane. Just have fun with them. I know I'm a sap, but I just loved Chomper and Littlefoot's relationship, it was so adorable the way Chomper just wanted to hang onto Littlefoot and was like his shadow. I felt that this story had a great moral to the kids and personally as an adult I still find it very watchable. These movies are made more so for the kids, so give these films a break, The Land Before Time 2 is a good movie.

    6/10
  • Direct to video follow ups are rarely any good, and when I heard the follow up to Don Bluths 1988 masterpiece the land before time was going to take that format, I was deeply troubled. This time Bluth has nothing to do with it, and its a wise move as the movie will only disappoint. The story begins with little foot and his gang living peaceful and happy lives in the great valley, however all that is disturbed when two egg snatching dinosaurs start to steal eggs from their home. On one occasion the gang follow the thieves only for a terrible egg mix up to occur. It brings a baby sharp tooth into the valley and opens up one of the great valleys walls to attack from the dreaded beasties. The film is weak in nearly every sense, not least in the fact the egg catching villains are pathetic. In the previous picture the villain, a T-Rex named sharptooth generated real threat and was always a haunting presence in your mind. Here the two villains are simply clowns and about as scary as Littlefoot himself. The gang are just as endearing during this outing, but the themes are simply not strong enough this time to sufficiently care about them. The animation seems a little more amateurish this time round but it takes close inspection to tell the difference. There are also, unlike the original a selection of songs though none of them are memoroble,in fact some are just plain irritating To conclude the film is what you would expect from a direct to video release, not worth bothering with.
  • Chomper is a cute new character who steals the film. The villains comprise of two egg stealers & two Sharp Tooths. The plot is overlong but enjoyable. Perhaps the inclusion of songs was a mistake but they're not too annoying. If you loved the original then you'll be happy to meet the characters again. I certainly was. 6/10

Why doesn't the movie industry learn to leave a good thing alone? Why must they force out sequel after sequel (and each one is progressively worse)? It completely ruined the effect of the first movie when this and the sequels came out. The kids I baysit want to know why Littlefoot and the others don't sing in the first one, and keep pointing out where they think songs should go. I've had one kid insist they should redo the movie, since there are no songs. Really...singing dinosaurs? Why is this necessary?
  • Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, I can see why some hardcore LBT fans were disappointed by this first sequel. It seems a little light-hearted compared to the darker, more adult tone of the movie. This movie has a primarily kid message and a weak, padded story. The characters are also a little annoying, especially Cera. They all seem a little too bratty compared to the first movie. The songs were also really annoying! However, this movie does have some redeeming qualities. For example, the egg-stealers were pretty funny. They were dumb as heck but still pretty amusing. The animation was actually pretty good for a direct to DVD release and the same goes for the action scenes. In fact, when Chomper and his family came along, I became a little more invested. The family dynamic with Chomper and his parents is cute and Chomper is too in that regard. In conclusion, this movie isn't bad, just underwhelming.
  • 1994 was a huge year for children's entertainment. Disney's Return of Jafar may have got the ball rolling with it's "VHS premier" even though it was a thinly disguised pilot movie for the syndicated Aladdin tv series that would premier a few months later, but it was Land Before Time II that showed you could make something DTV and have it be as much or more of a cash cow than theatrical releases. And with Universal's Amblimation movies An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, We're Back: A Dinosaur Story, and Balto all posting disappointing box office numbers while the 6 Land Before Time movies raked in nearly $1,000,000,000 in VHS sales, Universal left the theatrical animated space and relegated themselves to churning out Land Before Time sequels every one to two years. These DTV titles have done massive damage to the reputation of the animation industry which is only now being able to escape this stigma, but even when taking all that into account the movie still isn't very good. At best it feels like the type of cartoon one would expect to see in syndication at 7:30 am on weekdays back when there WAS a syndication market for cartoons and it has low stakes, forgettable songs, and is a complete tonal 180 from the first movie. It'll entertain children while it's one, but it doesn't leave much of a lasting impact. It's on of those movies that has more of a reputation for what it caused than what it is.
  • Genre: Animation, dinosaurs, sequel.

Main characters: Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie and Spike. I like these characters and I'm glad you see them so often on all these L.B.T films.

Actors: The ones who do the main characters are Scott McAfee (Littlefoot), Candace Huston (Cera), Heather Hogan (Ducky), Jeff Bennet (Petrie) and Rob Paulsen (Spike).

What happens: Some of our favourite cartoon dinosaurs are back in this really good sequel, this time happy to be in the great valley. They see two "egg-stealers" stealing an egg and go after them (which means braving the MYSTERIOUS BEYOND). Will they retrieve the stolen egg?

My thoughts: I think this L.B.T is underrated. It is a good, clean, fun family film, with characters who are easy to relate to and a good and exciting storyline - perfect for children and some older people! :-) Yes, it is more happy than the original "Land Before Time" but children don't want to see another loved character dying - do they (although I love that film anyway)?

For the wee ones, this is a good film for them to sit down to and probably for parents as well. After that you may wish to watch the others, go ahead if you wish! :-) This is a good series from beginning to end. Of course, this and the others have lots of flaws, but you are likely not to be disappointed by at least one aspect in each film!

What you may like about the film: You may like the lovely and fun songs. You may like the animation. You may like the plot and storyline. You may like the characters. You may like the feeling of the story. These features pleased me and I hope they please you.

Recommended to: Families who like cartoon films, people who thought the first L.B.T was a tad bit too sad and particularly for cartoon-loving children. Enjoy! :-)

1990's had some animation Blocksbusters like The Lion King. But it also was long before cheap VHS only sequels would stop, and animation became hip with the teens and adults with endless row of 4chan meme worthy mature cartoons. In this sequel Chomber shows up, and there are the first 2 TLBT sequel songs.
  • The first of a dozen or so sequels, we see Littlefoot and friends attempt to chase off two egg-snatching dinosaurs and, while they did recover the egg near the valley's edge, they inadvertently created an opening and allowed two Sharptooths (T-Rexes) to sneak inside, threatening to disrupt the valley's peaceful way of life.

Though the animation is good and the voice-over talents weren't bad, the film overall is pretty dull. The story doesn't capture the exciting adventures, tales of friendship, heartfelt drama and courage found in the original movie. Instead, what we have is a bunch of kid dinosaurs running around trying to save the day in a very amateurish way - almost like a typical preteen TV series episode with no real significance. And, the filmmakers decided to add songs in the movie - songs that will make you cringe. It really makes the film more childish and makes it a huge departure from the more touching themes of the previous film.

I know this is a children's movie, but coming off as a sequel to its heartfelt prequel, I would have expected something more. I can only imagine what the following direct-to-video sequels are like.

This film is probably fine for the little kids to watch; all others, stick with the original instead.

    Grade D-
  • I have been looking for this movie for 6 years now. Now I'm turning 19 this year and I want to in joy watching old time movies 😄😊

A good kids film with good messages for young kids.
  • Like the original, an well crafted heatwarming tale. This storyline is full of morals and lessons from peer pressure, friendship, listening to your parents, cherishing childhood, prejudice, discrimination, teamwork and much more.

The animation is traditional and simplistic with some innccuracies of depictions of species' features and some inaccuacies between Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods. However the dubbing is amazing with characters vocal patterns and use of language being correlative to the species presumed intelligence.

Unlike the original this has several musical numbers which seem dubious in the context of the series. Some of the songs are bad and others are just awful.

However a must watch for kids.
  • It's great to encourage kids to befriend people who are different than them...but...come on...THE DUDE TRIED TO EAT THEM! IT'S IN HIS NATURE! May wanna draw our line of wokeness at becoming literal food to another being. This is why there isn't a push for human-crocodile integration.
  • I liked the original Land Before Time and I considered it as one of Don Bluth's best films in the 1980s along with Anastasia (1997). I saw this and the rest of the sequels as a child and I liked them, but in terms of having been grown up as a young adult (I'm 18 this year), I think that some of them were decent (with TOTGG, SOSR, SOCF, and GLM as the best) and some that are awful (IOTT and TWOF) and this one is also good, but not as great as the original was.

I'll get to the negatives. The story's predictable and lacked heart at it's best. The dialog is quite unnecessary and the songs are extremely forgettable (with Eggs as the exception, that was pretty good). There's also the fact that it's quite short.

However, it does have some nice animation despite it's average editing and some of the characters are likable enough. I also liked listening to the same music from the original and has some of the best peril ever with it's moments with the sharp-teeth. Ozzy and Strut, although not the greatest villains, are decent and funny at the same time. The main characters were good, especially Ducky, but the only character that I liked the most was Chomper because he was so adorable and the part where he and Littlefoot say goodbye to each other was so touching.

Overall, despite it's lack of heart to the original and it's predictable story, The Land Before Time II is a very decent sequel to a classic from the late 80s. I'm sure kids will like it, but for others, stick to the original.
  • I deny the existence of this horrible direct-to-video movie, so please DO NOT WATCH IT AT ALL because it'll only ruin your memory of other Land Before Time movies such as the original. I first heard of this movie when I was a kid, and whenever I would watch it I would always turn it off in the middle of the movie because I was bored and crying about this bad film. However, I was able to watch this whole movie when I was in high school a couple of times because I was then old enough to appreciate the film for the characters and story line of when they have to save an egg from being stolen by two greedy egg thieves, Ozzy and Strut who are dreadful and lousy villains.

I'm in college right now, and all I can say about this Land Before Time sequel is that in every aspect, IT SUCKS! The songs are really cheesy and give me headaches such as "Peaceful Valley" and of course "Eggs". Not to mention the animation is ugly and all the voice acting is also really dreadful and painful, and this is definitely a movie that I believe should be extinct.

Pass on this sequel, and if you want to watch a Land Before Time film other than the original, go with either #6 "The Secret of Saurus Rock" or #7 "The Stone of Cold Fire". If you watch those two Land Before Time sequels closely, you'll notice that the theme to those movies is a big resemblance of that from Hayao Miyazaki's Japanese anime masterpiece, "Laputa: Castle in the Sky".

To summarize my review, THIS MOVIE IS BAD so pretend it doesn't exist.

    Warning: Spoilers
The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure, directed by Roy Allen Smith, is a worthy sequel to the original The Land Before Time. The graphics are so stunning and the voice work is done to perfection. It just makes both you and your children love the series even more.

Ozzy (Jeff Bennett) and Strut (Rob Paulsen) are egg stealer's who have just stolen an egg. Littlefoot (Scott McAfee)and his friends Cera (Candace Hutson), Petrie (Jeff Bennett), Ducky (Heather Hogan) and Spike stop them from making off with the egg, and decide to return it to its mother. When they do they discover that the egg isn't from the mother dinosaur.

So the crew decides to parent the egg, but when it hatches they discover it is a sharp tooth. They run but all come back. Before the fun gets to good the baby sharp tooth's parents show up and take their son back. They also get back at the egg stealer's when they attempt to steal their baby.

This is also the first in the Land Before Time videos to have songs. Peaceful Valley, Eggs, and You're One of Us Now. This is a movie for everyone in the entire family, young and old. This is followed by ten sequels.
  • The Land Before Time was a neat movie from 1988, with its deep story, lovable characters, and great music. Six years later, someone in Universal decided it was a good idea to make a sequel to this film that would be direct-to-video, and thus, The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure was created, the first of a whopping thirteen sequels that basically took the what we loved about the 1998 original and make it like any film made by Disney.

In this, Littlefoot and his friends are enjoying life in the Great Valley, the paradise for all leaf-eating dinosaurs that has a lot of food and protect them from predators like Sharpteeth. However, one night, after needing to be rescued and being scolded for being reckless, Cera gets Littlefoot and the others to a meeting, and wanting to show the grown-ups they can take care of themselves, however, when Littlefoot and Ducky see Ozzy and Strut, two egg stealers, stealing an egg from the nest of Ducky's family, and as he goes to tell them, Cera stops him and tells them they will catch them as a way to prove to the grown-up they are not babies anymore, and chase them into The Mysterious Beyond, and must find their way back home, making friends with a newly-hatched baby Sharptooth they call Chomper along the way.

Yeah, I didn't think a sequel was even necessary, as the first movie ended happily ever after, but I guess Universal saw Disney's The Return Of Jafar, a direct-to-video sequel to Aladdin that also serves as a pilot to the upcoming series, and decided they wanted to cash in on it. Done without the involvement of Don Bluth, or Stevel Spielberg and George Lucas, The Great Valley Adventure would depart greatly from the original by making it lighter in tone and aiming it at younger kids. As a result, the characters will often break into song like it was another Disney film, and while there are still some dark scenes (the Mysterious Beyond being a swamp littered with dinosaur bones), the scary elements have been toned down (even the Sharptooth cannot be as scary as it was in the original film). Most of the roles have been recast (with Candace Hutson being the only returning actor from the first, reprising her role as Cera), the acting is a bit of hit or miss (although Strut is voiced by Rob Paulson, who voices him like Pinky from Pinky And The Brain if that silly mouse was born British). Plus, the animation is done by a different company, making it brighter than the original. While not the worst of the sequels, it did open the prehistoric floodgate for thirteen more sequels following its formula of characters breaking into song and having adventures, mainly to get little ones to bug their parents to give their money to Universal to keep up with Littlefoot and friends.

    TLBT 2
I remember seeing the land before time 2 when it came out in 1994, this one came out 6 years after the first land before time (1988). This story sets out when Littlefoot and his friends find an egg, it hatches and they find out that it's a sharptooth, they get use to it as they call chomper, a male little T-rex.
  • The little dinosaurs live with their parents in the well-protected The Great Valley. They are tired of being treated as little kids. Their adventure to rescue an egg ends up punching a hole in the protective wall. This sequel is straight to video. The story is messy. It's a muddle with this group of characters. At least, they seem to have maintained the animation style. I don't want to be a hater but I can't see little kids liking this.
  • Warning: Spoilers
If the kids liked the first film, then they will like the straight to video sequel. Personally I found it corny in places, but it does have an interesting story. The dinosaurs have made it to The Great Valley and are living there with their parents, Littlefoot by the way is living with his grandparents. The Valley has now got two dinosaurs stealing eggs from nests, one egg belonging to a Sharp Tooth. This Sharp Tooth, Chomper, is found by Littlefoot and he is trying to make him a nice T-Rex to be a friend to the other friends. The Sharp Tooths obviously get in the Valley and, chase out the egg thieves and the good dinosaurs block their entry. Kids will like it, I'm not sure I'd want to see it again. Adequate!
