"This Can't Be Love" is not a bad film. But considering that Anthony Quinn and Katharine Hepburn made this during their latter years, you wonder why they didn't hold out for a better script. After all, their returning to films should have gotten the best possible treatment.

Hepburn and Quinn essentially play folks similar to the real stars. Their names and a few details were changed but they both play aging stars from Hollywood's Golden Age.

The story involves a woman pushing her way into the life of Marion (Hepburn). Slowly over time, it becomes obvious that she isn't who she claims to be and she is somehow trying to reunite Marion with Michael Raymond (Quinn)....a man she knew many years ago. Why? Well, see the film as I don't want to spoil it.

The acting is fine but the script is just so-so. I particularly disliked the young lady and felt her part was poorly written. Still, it is a chance to see two great actors act and for many that will probably be enough.

By the way Hepburn's character talked at one point in making a movie called "The Song of Life" with Henry Fonda. No such movie exists.
