"1895" is a stylish animated short from the always surprising Estonian animator, Priit Pärn, which tells a humorous and surreal biography Auguste and Louis Lumiere, filled also with several references to the history of cinema, something that makes this film particularly enjoyable and interesting.

Like in "Hotel E", different animation styles are used to tell the story, and all of those style are pretty effective at the moment to represent different situations and moods, but unlike "Hotel E", which was a pretty serious short, this always keep a light-hearted, almost playful, even at the moments where plot takes some hints of black comedy.

I highly recommend this short to the fans of surreal and atypical animation, but also to those who enjoy the movies and shorts related to the early years of cinema.

I love absurd cartoons and this is one of those. Just incredibly funny and cool animation. The jokes may not be understand by everyone. If you like absurdity and dark humor[i like to call it smart humor;)] and animations, this is a movie for you.:) Personally I would say almost all work by Priit Pärn is particularly good.
