One of the Best of the Worst!
This movie is so bad, I actually enjoy watching it. Did the producers think that they could improve on the original Under Siege? This movie should have NEVER been made, like many sequels, but the attempt at recreating exactly the same plot, exactly the same motives, exactly the same supporting protagonists is revolting--how much can a movie lover take? Hijacking a train? What? At one point, our hero takes a high-powered rifle bullet and keeps on going as if nothing ever happened. I don't care if it's the movies or not, that shot would have taken his whole shoulder off. Okay, I couldn't take it any more. Cable stations seem to play this sad picture anytime they can't find anything else to fill the spot. The only other movie that bit this bad was "Highlander 2: The Quickening." Why can't some movie producers simply rest on their laurels and accept a one-hit wonder like the first Under Siege?

Trivia

Couple scenes had to be cut down for R rating; During the fight with a one eyed terrorist after Ryback cuts the terrorist's wrist their fight concluded with Ryback stabbing the terrorist in the neck causing blood to spurt out which is why you see blood on the terrorists chin and sweater when he falls out of the cupboard. The climatic fight between Ryback and Penn was also more graphic and brutal, at one point Ryback forces Penn's face onto a hot cooker before they fall down the stairs, which is why Penn has a large red mark on his left cheek in the rest of the scene.

Quotes

Gen. Cooper: Tom, thanks for coming.

Goofs

When the satellite fires and when it self-destructs in the end, mechanical/exploding sounds are heard. There cannot be any sound in the vacuum of space.

Alternate Versions

Although the UK cinema version was intact, all video releases suffered 2 minutes 1 sec of BBFC cuts for "pervasive and gloating" violence. Among the cuts were shots of limb breaks, the red-hot poker in the eyes scene, lengthy shots of people on fire, the slicing off of Dane's fingers in the helicopter door, closeup shots of ingredients used in bomb making equipment, and heavy edits to all scenes featuring closeups and glamorized use of knives. The uncut version has recently been shown on UK television.
