A lonely and mentally disturbed cable guy raised on television just wants a new friend, but his target, a designer, rejects him, with bad consequences.
Eric Roberts plays himself, starring in the TV movie about the Menendez Brothers style killers (played by Ben Stiller). Eric Roberts is known for playing killers (Star 80 in particular), and more ironically, on The Howard Stern Show, he defended the real Menendez Brothers, and had even sent a letter to Howard the previous year about being more sympathetic to them.

The Columbia logo at the beginning of the movie segues into static from Steven's cable TV.
