When a multimillionaire man's son is kidnapped, he cooperates with the police at first but then turns the tables on the kidnappers when he uses the ransom money as a reward for the capture of the kidnappers.
This film was based on an episode of The United States Steel Hour (1953) called The United States Steel Hour: Fearful Decision (1954) that first aired live on June 22, 1954. It was so well received, it was restaged on May 10, 1955. A film was made from the drama called Ransom! (1956) that was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

In the check writing scene, the trigger on the Glock is in the "fired but not reset" position. If this gun is not fired the trigger is in the "full forward" position. If the trigger is pulled but the gun is not loaded, (so the slide does not cycle to reset the trigger) the trigger moves to a position where it is much further back in the trigger guard.
