  • I don't think that this show was ever going to win any awards. Still, I enjoy it enough to watch it whenever an episode is re-run on UK television (usually in the early mornings).

All of the episodes have the same, basic premise. Someone has travelled into the past and is changing time in ways which could catastrophically affect the present. Jack Logan (sometimes accompanied by fellow timecop Claire Hemmings) is sent back in time to defeat the bad guy. In doing so, he often has to deal with real historical characters, such as Al Capone, Jack The Ripper and Adolf Hitler !

I must admit that a big part of the show's appeal for me is the character of Claire, played by Cristi Conaway. Conaway has an old fashioned kind of beauty, like a pre-WWII film star, and I can't take my eyes off her when she's on screen. I especially enjoy the episodes where she travels back to the 20s or 30s and has to dress in the style of those decades.

Anyway, by no means is this a brilliant series but it is an enjoyable way to pass an hour.
  • A fun mystery/adventure show with a familiar time travel concept will charm those looking for a light hour of entertainment. Not bogged down in melodrama or scientific technobabble, Timecop is a laidback show with a different puzzle each episode.

If you're like me and enjoy that episodic format you won't be disappointed. This isn't hard science fiction or hyper-realistic legal drama, it's a quick romp through time while our hero Jack Logan, played by Ted King, partners up with the usual gallery of sidekicks (smart and sexy female partner, lovable egghead scientist back at HQ, older boss/captain).

It only ran for 9 episodes but worth the time if you find it somewhere online.
  • Having been a fan of the movie "Timecop," I was quite thrilled when I discovered this TV Series. I immediately found T.J. Cook a lot more likable than Jean-Claude Van Damme, and the effects were nearly as top notch as the film!

Too bad ABC didn't know when to air this show, and it was immediately lost into the void. First "Timecop," then "Cupid." ABC simply doesn't know good programming. I wonder how many fans of Science Fiction Television even knew this show aired?!?!?

Hopefully, The Sci-Fi Channel will pick this one up and air all of the episodes. After it was canceled, ABC randomly aired the remaining episodes at the most absurd times...I missed out!

    *EDIT*

SCI-FI Chanell has heard my pleas and aired the show! Bless you SCI-FI!
  • Doesn't matter what you say, this is a great in my opinion. Maybe they didn't give it a chance and maybe Ted wasn't a van damme. But he's was great in this roll. Each episode was fun and it never got old. I'd give this one 10 stars up there with the classics like x files and the rest. It's a fun show just tune out the theatrical film with Jean Claude van damme and just enjoy yourself. It's a great series and I bet you'll enjoy every minute of it. Trust me it's great. Each episode is a classic and I miss watching this one late at night because it got pre empted by a foot ball game. This was more interesting the. Any football game.
  • This was one of those shows that had a brilliant story and cast and was utterly let down by the network, the Airing was almost random and thus no one got to watch it through until it was cancelled and was availible to buy. This could have been a stargate SG-1 peer but with modern CGI this show could be a brilliant insight into the changes taking place in society and cultures. The stories or historical events picked up are only some of the objious ones and it could go much further. Logan's charicter is that of a typical alpha male and is contrasted brilliantly by Hemmings. The tech could use a little more explanation by someone with a better background in temporal mechanics and current quantum theory as the idea of practical time travel is not that far fetched if not for the lack of a power source capable of bending space-time.
  • How else can you explain it? They were constantly shifting this show around from one time slot to another, preempting it with sporting events, and generally making it difficult for anyone who wanted to watch this show to know when to tune in. And then, *BIG SURPRISE*, halfway through the season, they decided it wasn't getting good ratings (I can't imagine why) and cancelled it.
  • I remember staying up on night and watching an episode of this hammy american TV show based on the quite-good action film starring Jean Claude Van Damme.

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the rest of the series, I don't know if it was unintentional or not, but the episode I saw certainly seemed to be funny.

Firstly you've got the hero with pearly white teeth...who travels back in time, and unlike JCVD doesn't do any martial arts.

Anyway, the episode I saw had this guy with a black leather coat on go back in time to Hitler and give him an IBM computer with his Gestapo-cum-scientists going "what is this....i...b...m?" I laughed out loud, mainly because I knew that IBM were around that time...but mainly because it just looked so damned silly.

The concept of going back in time to help the nazis is an intresting quirk, however it just seemed to be so silly and no forefought had been spared. Why didn't the Nazis' figure out he was neo-American when they saw him in Jeans and white sneakers.

The hero travels to the future (for some reason) only to be met by nazis in the future (future nazis?) and goes back in time to stop the guy in the leather coat (hang on a minute, if the Nazis controlled the time machine - doesn't that mean they control time? - ah to hell with plot!)

Anyway, by the end of this unintentional comedy, the guy in the leather coat can't make any more nukes from his IBM because er - well - someone deleted the file or something. Just as the leather coat guy is explaining his "error" Hitler has him shot right there and then...I nearly p***ed myself laughing by that point.

Its a shame this series ended so soon. It made me cry with laughter and joy so much...when will it be re-ran?

This is one tv series that truly sucks. None of the characters are interesting. The Female lead(Cristi Conaway) is horrible. The male lead(Ted King II) leaves alot to be desired, as does the entire show. I thought it would have some saving grace since the movie was so Kick-ass. I guess not. I know Jean Claude has made some bad movies, but Timecop was amongst his finest. And he fit the title role more perfectly than anyone I can think of. If they couldn't get him to do the show they should have just let it go. I keep trying to watch it now that sci-fi channel is airing it again. But each time I turn the channel and wonder what else I could have done with the time I spent watching this lame spin-off of a comic book, to a movie, to a tv show. Save yourselves the time and read a book or something.
