When people “make it big,” they often celebrate with a big-ticket purchase. Tom Brady bought a luxury watch. Selena Gomez invested in Louis Vuitton apparel. Mae Whitman bought a king-size mattress, and Evangeline Lilly bought a used car. As with many other things, going big in country music can mean a different ballpark altogether. For star Blake Shelton, the first big purchase he made after his first hit single was nothing short of a bulldozer.

Regarding her special edition Barbie Doll, Zendaya gushed, “After my Oscar moment, Mattel contacted us. They specifically wanted to make a Barbie that looked like me, in my exact outfit from the Oscars. I was so excited that Barbie wanted to diversify their brand. Now all little girls can have a Barbie that looks like them. My Barbie is in a box. I never let anyone touch her.”
Meanwhile, Miss Smith didn’t hesitate when asked about her fashion inspiration- “My mom. When she was on tour with Ozzfest, she was very raunchy. I loved watching her onstage. I think the first song that ever made an impression on me was my mom performing ‘Bleed All Over Me.’ I would sing it over and over.

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen actor and fashion line creator Tara Subkoff, known for "The Last Days of Disco,” “The Notorious Bettie Page” and her breakthrough ‘90s role in the teen drama “All Over Me” (though if you’ve paid close attention, you’ll note she’s made recent appearances on “The Kroll Show”). But she’s been up to something: her feature-length filmmaking debut “#Horror,” which she directed, wrote and produced. Inspired by actual events, “#Horror” centers on a group of 12-year-old girls who face a night of terror when the compulsive addiction of an online social media game turns a moment of a cyber bullying to a night of insanity. “#Horror” examines a world of escalating cruelty and alienation through an online game where scoring likes comes at the cost of human lives. Appearing in the movie are a number of friends including Chloe Sevigny...

Following our roundup of the top 10 gay movie cliches earlier this week, Rebecca Nicholson reveals the top lesbian tropes – including high-concept deaths, sudden-onset homosexuality and spontaneous skinny-dipping
• Sad eyes and erotic socks: the top 10 gay-movie cliches
A big talk about complicated feelings in a coffee shop
Pass the double espresso with a frappuccino chaser: in lesbian films, as in lesbian life, there are a lot of feelings to be discussed. (This is what distinguishes an actual lesbian-themed film from one of those other lesbian-themed films.) These conversations can take place in any location, at any time, for any length of time – but the preferred locale is a coffee shop. It isn't as loud as a bar, and all that relationship-processing is so exhausting it makes sense to be able to call on the rallying power of an artificial stimulant.

December is a month that increasingly sees few releases of new albums, so the closer this list gets to the present day, the fewer albums of importance there are to discuss, and most of those are hip-hop albums.

Monica and her Los Angeles Laker husband Shannon Brown walked down the aisle the second time on Saturday, July 9. The couple tied the knot the first time in November last year inside a 19th century cathedral Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles.
Unlike the first one, the weekend ceremony was attended by hundreds of friends and family including Lala Vazquez, Carmelo Anthony and Brown's teammates Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher. Guests were told to come in the shade of blue for the purple-and-blue themed reception organized by Mindy Weiss. The bride herself wore a Stephan Roland gown.

If there's one thing Ashthon Jones learned from her brief-but-memorable journey on "American Idol," it's that America does not take kindly to the word "diva."
"Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez called Ashthon the "D" word while raving about her semifinal performance, Monica's "Love All Over Me," but the Nashville native quickly realized that the term carries some negative connotations.
"When J.Lo said it, I understood what she was talking about. You know how Patti Labelle, Diana Ross, Whitney were divas but they were divas in a positive way? They were sweet and humble backstage, but when they got on the stage, they [showed] the world that they could do it," Jones told MTV News on Monday (March 14). "America didn't think that," she laughed before sassily snapping her fingers.

NBC has named country music's Male Vocalist of The Year Blake Shelton as the fourth and final musician coach of "The Voice," a new musical competition series premiering on Tuesday, April 26 (9-11 p.m. Et). Shelton joins previously announced musician coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine.
The announcement was made by Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios.
"We couldn't have a panel that represented the hottest American music without a strong country presence, and Blake is at the top of his game right now," said Telegdy. "Not only is he incredibly charismatic, but his passion for collaborating with and bringing the best out of other talented artists makes him the perfect choice to round out this 'Dream Team' of musician coaches."
"I'm not sure 'The Voice' knows what they signed on for by bringing me on the show," joked Shelton.

"They're supremely talented," Jennifer Lopez said of American Idol's top 12 girls at the start of Wednesday's 90-minute showcase, which will lead to the announcement of the season's finalists on Thursday. Overall, the male performers on Tuesday were more supremely talented, but the female voices were never less than professional, never just sloppily over the top. In fact, it's harder to determine which five will survive. I could move blocks of texts up and down all night, but after awhile it's like trying to assemble a bowl of fruit for a perfect still-life painting. So, we start with five I...

Ever have that nightmare where you’re headed into a classroom for a huge final exam, even though you’ve only attended one class all semester? And inevitably, we’re bound to get some answers wrong.

The Top 12 women of "American Idol" season 10 charmed the judges with the first performance before audience. The March 2 episode started out rough with Ta-Tynisa Wilson singing Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)". Randy Jackson said it was not good and showed no uniqueness but Jennifer Lopez appreciated her stage presence.
Naima Adedapo brought the mood a notch higher with frequently-sung "Summertime" which was topped with sultry voice and finger snapping. "You're like an exotic flower," Jennifer said while Steven Tyler said it reminded him of an early Ella Fitzgerald. Kendra Chantelle sang the "Impossible" and Steven gushed, "You did it again, voice hot, clothes hot, style hot."
Rachel Zevita twisted Fiona Apple's "Criminal" to jazzy tune and emerged with red skirt underneath a cape. "A little too Broadway for me, not that that's a bad thing, Broadway could be your niche," Steven commented. Meanwhile, Karen Rodriguez mixed English...

In the words of the great philosopher Kool: “Oh yes it’s ladies’ night, and the feeling’s right. Oh yes it’s ladies’ night, oh what a night.” Or to put it another way, the top 12 women of American Idol‘s tenth season just brought it to the big stage, and now we’re faced with the tough work of advancing a quintet to the finals, while forcing the other seven to walk the reality TV plank. Somehow it doesn’t seem fair, does it?

The fellas had their chance on Tuesday night, so on Wednesday (March 2), this year's "American Idol" top 12 women took the stage in an effort to earn their place in the finals.
By night's end, Pia Toscano and Ashthon Jones emerged as the ones to beat, while teens Thia Megia and Lauren Alaina appeared to have also punched their cards into the top 10.
Beyoncé impersonator Ta-Tynisa Wilson, 20, did the honors and went first, singing Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," while wearing a geometric-patterned poodle skirt. Though she looked the part, her thin, squeaky vocals were way off and the band's tinny new wave arrangement did her no favors.
Jennifer Lopez said it started off shaky, but she liked how Wilson played to the crowd and disagreed strongly with Randy Jackson,...

We just posted a series of "Grey's Anatomy" spoilers, but we wanted to share one more surprise with you.
The show already had the teen in us screaming when it cast "Felicity" star Scott Foley (and, yes, from "The Unit," as well) as Teddy's new project, but in the Jan. 13 episode, we'll be seeing another blast from the past.
An ABC spokesperson tell us that Wilson Cruz (who played Rickie on "My So-Called Life") guest stars as a man whose partner gets injured by a freak accident on their wedding day.
Aside from the cult series, which also introduced us to Claire Danes, Cruz has starred in Logo's "Noah's Arc," Fox's "Party of Five" and the gay coming of age film, "All Over Me," among others.
Will the doctors of Seattle Grace Mercy West be able to save his partner? By the look of these pictures, things are looking grim.

I love that a heated discussion over Titanic’s infamous Oscar sweep of 1998 has already begun over at Laurent’s excellent retrospective. I guess it’s just the nature of this particular film. There is something about Titanic that hits a raw nerve in people and they feel a need to defend/criticize it so passionately.
As it happens, I fall in the ‘unconditional love’ category and I’m not afraid to admit it. To this day I have a passion for Titanic, a film that so perfectly matches what a glorious, spellbinding, big spectacle romance against an historic backdrop should be, and those films are so rare, especially when they are made with such precise and meticulous detail from James Cameron.
We shouldn’t be embarrassed over how much we loved Titanic in the 90′s. We should embrace it. So as our third ‘Choose The Winners’ article, we are...

Maybe Khloé Kardashian Odom can give Monica some advice on being a basketball wife. The songbird just got engaged to L.A. Laker Shannon Brown, breaking the news by tweeting a pic of herself wearing a huge rock over the weekend and thanked her supporters for the love. The 29-year-old singer, whose hits include "Before You Walk Out of My Life" and the Grammy-winning duet "The Boy Is Mine" with Brandy, began dating Brown, 24, after he starred in her "Love All Over Me," playing—conveniently enough—the man she marries. After the video wrapped, the duo were spotted vacationing in Cabo in September. On her Twitter, Monica insisted to the doubters...

Want to feel really depressed about your job? Look at list of what TV stars earn. In fact, several TV stars are probably feeling a little depressed about their jobs, too, after TV Guide compared their salaries this week. Case in point, TV’s top actor is Charlie Sheen, who hauls in $1.25 million per episode of Two and a Half Men. And guess what, that was last season’s salary. This year, after pleading guilty to domestic violence charges that stemmed from a Christmas Day fight with his wife, he got a salary bump to about $1.8 million per episode. Yeah, I wasn’t kidding about feeling depressed.
Christopher Meloni - $395,000 per episode
To take the sting off, a few queer stars and queer-favorites did make the top earner list. Law & Order: Svu star Marisa Hargitay is TV’s top dramatic actress, taking home $395,000 per episode along with her co-star Christopher Meloni.

Indie-rock vets sound strangely sedate
When Dinosaur Jr. ended a long hiatus with 2007’s Beyond, it was a triumphant return. The only album that gives the band’s 1987 masterpiece, You’re Living All Over Me, a run for best-of-catalog status, Beyond signified a don’t-call-it-a-comeback kind of comeback. Indeed, J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph had been here for years, but they also hadn’t been working together for years. All of which amounts to some serious expectations for follow-up Farm. Unfortunately, the album buckles under the pressure. At times, Mascis and Co. sound perfectly at home amidst a wall of distortion (see the bouncy, hook-driven “I Want You to Know”). But for the most part, they sound exhausted; from the plodding chug of “Ocean in the Way” to the utter drag of “Said the People,” a strange sense of sedation weighs down what should’ve been an exhilarating ride.
