The character of John Milton is named for John Milton, the author of "Paradise Lost," the classic epic poem about man's fall from God's grace. When Lomax is in Milton's office at the end of the film, he says "Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven," from Book I Line 263 of the same work.

When Pam talks to Kevin outside the hospital, the shadows show that the sun is not aligned to the street. But as Kevin looks down the street, the shadows are parallel to it. When he looks back at Pam (who has disappeared) the shadows are angled again. And when he starts walking down the street, the sun is once again aligned to it.
The German TV version is cut for violence. The sex scene is shorter, Eddie Barzoon's death isn't very violent anymore and Kevin Lomax's suicide is cut.
