  • Of the hundreds and hundreds of movies that I've sat through, this is the worst of the lot. Bad dialogue was just the beginning of the end. There was no plot, not point, no purpose, no reason to watch this film. Now the obligatory compliment - the lead actor playing George did an "OK" job - although he should have read the script before taking the role. The writing was about as bad as you can get - "So... this girl of yours, does she have a name?" or perhaps "This is a boys only house!!!" qualify as lines that I only wish I'd never heard. I feel cheated for having taken my time to watch this mess. If I had any part in the making of this movie, I'd hide my head in shame.

I feel very lucky to be among the few and the proud to have seen the movie "George B." I obtained a "special screening copy" through the fellow who plays "Eddie" , and after I got over the white "for screening purposes only" words that kept appearing on the bottom, and got into the film, I was in for a treat. For one thing, David Morse, as the simple-minded George, and Nina Siemaszko as the deceptive Angela, give what are probably the best performances of both of their careers, and they are given a great story to work with--the story of an ordinary man just trying to "get lucky" and have some happiness in his life, though he runs into some minor obstacles along the way. It may not sound like much, but believe me, if you find "George", you will love it.
