Prefontaine

Goofs

Prefontaine

Edit

Continuity

In actual footage of the Munich Olympics, the runners' numbers are on their backs. The actors have numbers on the fronts of their jerseys.
During the football scene at the start of the movie, Steve puts his helmet, which has no side ear pads. A moment later, when he is on the ground after being hit, his helmet has side ear pads.

Factual errors

A late 1970s to early 1980s Chevrolet hubcap is on the wall of Coach Bill Bowerman's Garage. The 10-speed bikes hanging also look 5-10 years too new.
After Munich when Steve was feeling sorry for himself, he said that he'd have a street named after and it would be called 4th Street. In reality, that was actually said by his Oregon teammate Arne Kvalheim and it was meant to be a joke.

Revealing mistakes

In the middle of some racing scenes, runners are in the middle of the track when they should be running on the inside, in lane 1.
When the runners start off the line for the Olympic 5,000 meter race, one runner obviously moves out of the way of the camera taking the shot. He veers left at the last second when he should've gone right.

Anachronisms

A 1990s-era Jeep Cherokee is visible in the background at a track meet.
