The true story of Selena Quintanilla-Perez, a Texas-born Tejano singer who rose from cult status to performing at the Astrodome, as well as having chart topping albums on the Latin music charts.
In real life, Selena, who was from Texas, had a mild but obvious southern accent (and can sometimes be spoken fairly strong with some words). Jennifer Lopez, who is from New York, (with help from the family) portrayed this accent in the small subtle ways you would hear from Selena in her interviews.

When Selena and Chris are eating the pizza, Selena's glass has 3 straws in it and Chris's only has 1 straw.
