The true story of Selena Quintanilla-Perez, a Texas-born Tejano singer who rose from cult status to performing at the Astrodome, as well as having chart topping albums on the Latin music charts.
When Jennifer Lopez signed on to play Selena, she expected to be providing her own vocals. However, it was felt that since the movie would be released so soon after Selena's death, her fans would not approve of hearing any voice other than hers. So, Lopez was coached to lip-sync instead of being provided the vocal coaching she expected, although she did sing the intro to "Como La Flor" in the Monterrey concert scene.
No female has ever made it and now you're number one. You cracked the Tejano market wide open. You walked into Mexico and they don't even accept Mexican-Americans and they love you, and now?
Selena Quintanilla: And now... gringos. Disney World!
Abraham: You remember?
Selena Quintanilla: Uh-huh.
When Selena goes back to Chris's room and tells him she's tired of hiding still, his bangs are in his face. During this whole scene, his bangs move from in front of his face to on top of his head.
The producers wish to thank The Quintanilla Family
