| A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE....
After seeing THE best action movie ever (Speed) I went to this expecting more of the same awesome action.

Instead I was physically sea sick! Sat through the entire thing feeling like I was at sea in a teacup (in the middle of a cyclone), made worse by the terrible acting (even Temuera Morrison wasn't up to par in this) and lame 'action scenes'. The baddie wasn't bad enough, his reasons for hijacking the ship was just plain dumb, and Keanu Reeves, where the heck was he?

This whole flick was over-the-top-bad, trying waaaaay too hard to equal Speed One. But putting all the action on a cruise ship - a SMALL cruise ship at that? There was twice as much action in the elevator scene at the beginning of Speed One!

I found the gigantic tanker explosion, the ship crashing through the dock at the end TOO long and boring. By this time, however, the sea sickness had subsided (probably because the ship had already landed!) The ending would've been easier to bare if the characters hadn't said such dumb cliches....

I think I should've stayed at home....

Quotes

Alex Shaw: We gotta spend some time together. We'll get to know each other. Let's go away together.
Annie Porter, Alex Shaw: OK, where?
Alex Shaw: Caribbean.
Annie Porter: Oh, the Caribbean, do you have a concussion? We work 6 days a week, Alex. We've never even been away for a weekend.
Alex Shaw: I was gonna surprise ...

Goofs

While crashing into the dock, the ship decelerates from 6 knots to 5 knots in about 20 seconds. This is apparently enough to throw people forward through the ship's windows, yet in reality this deceleration force would barely be noticeable.

Crazy Credits

The 20th Century Fox logo fades into the ocean as the opening credits start to roll.

Alternate Versions

The network TV version of the film makes the following changes:

  • The final scene of the theatrical version of the film where Annie is repeating her drivers test is shown at the very beginning.
  • An additional scene was added showing Annie and Alex driving to the port and riding a dinghy to the ship where Annie first meets Geiger.
  • The name of the cruise ship was changed to "S.S. Legend".
  • An additional scene was added showing crew of the Eindhoven Lion extinguishing the oil tanker after the bow thruster scene.
  • An extended boat crash scene was added with more dialogue between the crew on the ship.
  • An extended scene was added showing Alex walking through a crashed house and through St. Martin after jumping off the ship.
