When reporting on the final game, the ESPN announcer mentions that it is "the first annual Bourbon Bowl". Yet in the next scene, there is a patch that reads "The Bourbon Bowl 50th Anniversary 1948-1998" sewn onto the football jersey worn by Bobby Boucher.

Late in the Bourbon Bowl, the electronic scoreboard shows that the Mud Dogs have two timeouts left. Later in the same half, the scoreboard reads that the Mud Dogs have three timeouts left (which can't be right as the team called a time-out at least once earlier in the half).

In the final game, the overhead view of the Stadium shows grandstands at each end of the field, but screen shots during the game from the field show no grandstands behind the goals.

When Derek kicks the field goal in the Bourbon Bowl game, as the ball crosses the goal posts, the scoreboard shows the score being 17-0. The very next shot shows the "correct" score as 27-17.

During the outdoor dinner with Bobby, Vicki, and Mama, jars and bottles on the table appear and disappear.

Louisiana's local law enforcement is shown wearing uniforms that say "County Sheriff". Louisiana doesn't have counties; it has parishes.

Bobby was injured on the second last play of the Bourbon Bowl, resulting in an injury timeout, but then stayed in for the next play (the final one of the game). Under NCAA rules, an injured player must sit out out least one play immediately following the resulting injury timeout, unless his team elects to use of their timeouts. According to the scoreboard, the Muddogs did have one timeout remaining, but didn't use it. It is possible that the officials could have automatically charged the Muddogs their final timeout, making the final play possible, but there is no indication that they did this in the film.

In the Bourbon Bowl, on the opening kickoff, the clock starts before the kick returner touches the ball. However, the clock isn't supposed to start until the kick returner advances the ball beyond the goal line.

When ESPN reports on the first game against Western Mississippi, they show SCLSU on top row of the box score, even though it was a home game for the Mud Dogs. Home teams are listed in the bottom row of the box score.

While showing the Louisiana State cheerleaders, the mascot drinks from a bottle of alcohol with the cap still on. This is just the mascot pretending to take a drink and passing out. It's not like the person inside the mascot could have actually taken a drink with the costume on even if the cap was off.

When Mud Dogs' stadium is first seen, the goal posts are of high school width. College width for the uprights is narrower, same as the NFL.

The alligators Bobby's mom serves at the BBQ with Vicky are obviously rubber toys.

When Derek gives Bobby his helmet, Casey calls Bobby a dink, but his mouth doesn't move.

The film was shot open-matte. Consequently, in the 4:3 full-frame version of the movie, there are multiple instances of camera tracks becoming visible at the bottom of the screen.

In a flashback scene, Bobby's mom is seen cutting up a moose. The nearest moose population to Louisiana is well over 1,000 miles away.

The snake that Coach Klein, Bobby, and his mom eat is an anaconda, native to the Amazon region and not found in Louisiana.

When Bobby first meets Coach Klein, the coach is drawing up a play on the chalkboard and describing it. The offense is represented by Os on the upper part of the chalkboard, and they are moving the ball downwards. Coach Klein uses the terms "left" and "right" from his perspective looking at the board, however football plays are always described in terms of the direction the offense is facing. So he is using totally backwards directions in describing the play. He also draws 12 players on offense. NCAA football has 11 players on each side of the ball.
