• Dr. Bey : We are part of an ancient secret society. For over three thousand years, we have guarded the City of the Dead. We are sworn at manhood to do any and all in our power to stop the High Priest Imhotep from being reborn into this world.

  Ardeth Bay : And now, because of you, we have failed.

  Evelyn : And you think this justifies the killing of innocent people?

  Dr. Bey : To stop this creature? Let me think...

  Dr. Bey , Ardeth Bay : *Yes*!

• Rick : [a bunch of mummies start coming out of the ground]  Who the hell are these guys?

  Ardeth Bay : Priests. *Imhotep's* priests.

  Rick : All right then.

  [Starts shooting] 

• [first lines] 

  Ardeth Bay : [narrating]  Thebes, City of the Living, crown jewel of Pharaoh Seti the First. Home of Imhotep, Pharaoh's high priest, keeper of the dead. Birthplace of Anck Su Namun, Pharaoh's mistress. No other man was allowed to touch her. But for their love, they were willing to risk life itself.

• Ardeth Bay : Know this: this creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep, and he will never stop.

• Pharaoh Seti I : [speaking in Ancient Eygyptian]  What are you doing here?

  Pharaoh Seti I : [approaches Anck Su Namun, staring, then points at her]  Who has touched you?

  [She looks at her arm then looks at him in front of Imhotep, who has unsheathed his sword] 

  Pharaoh Seti I : [speaking Ancient Egyptian]  Imhotep? My Priest!

  [Anck Su Namun stabs Pharaoh in the back. Imhotep swings and stabs Seti in the body. His priests look at the now-dead Pharaoh. A bang is heard on the door] 

  Imhotep : [speaking Ancient Egyptian]  Pharaoh's bodyguards.

  [the soldiers were banging on the door when they retreated inside] 

  Anck Su Namun : [speaking Ancient Egyptian]  You must go! Save Yourself!

  Imhotep : [serious in Ancient Egyptian]  No!

  Anck Su Namun : [continues speaking Ancient Egyptian]  Only you can resurrect me.

  [Pharaoh's soldiers break into the temple] 

  Imhotep : [speaks to Imhotep in Ancient Egyptian]  I won't leave you!

  [to Pharaoh's soldiers] 

  Imhotep : Get away from me!

  Imhotep : [his High Priest takes him away, and Imhotep continues speaking in Ancient Egyptian]  You shall live again!

  Imhotep : [shouting in Ancient Egyptian]  I will resurrect you!

  Anck Su Namun : [sees Pharaoh's bodyguards and warns them in Ancient Egyptian]  My body is no longer his temple.

  [she begins to stab herself while Imhotep watches her] 

  Ardeth Bay : [they begin riding into the desert at night]  To resurrect Anck Su Namun, Imhotep and his priest broke into her crypt and stole her body. They raced deep into the desert, taking Anck Su Namun's corpse to Hamunaptra, City of the Dead, ancient burial site for the sons of pharaohs and resting place for the wealthy of Egypt.

• Ardeth Bay : Imhotep's priests were condemned to be mummified alive.

  High Priest : [groaning when he heard the priests screaming] 

  Ardeth Bay : As for Imhotep, he was condemned to endure the Hom-Dai, the worst of all ancient curses. One so horrible, it had never before been bestowed.

  Imhotep : [screaming when his tongue was cut out] 

  Imhotep : [breathing heavily] 

  Imhotep : [grunting while Pharaoh's bodyguards put Imhotep in his sarcophagus after being mummified alive] 

  Ardeth Bay : [Imhotep watches, screaming, as Pharaoh's bodyguard pours a bucket of skittering scarab beetles over his body] 

  Ardeth Bay : [when Pharaoh's bodyguard locks Imhotep inside his sarcophagus]  He was to remain sealed inside his sarcophagus, undead for all of eternity. The Maji would never allow him to be released, for he would arise a walking disease, a plague upon mankind, an unholy flesh eater with a strength of ages, power over the sand, and the glory of invincibility.

• Ardeth Bay : For his love, Imhotep dared the gods' anger by going deep into the city, where he took the black Book of the Dead from its holy resting place.

  High Priest : [chanting with all the priests in Ancient Egyptian] 

  Ardeth Bay : Anck Su Namun's soul had been sent to the dark underworld, her vital organs removed and placed in five sacred Canopic Jars.

  [Imhotep holds the Book of the Dead, and a dark, mysterious soul flies into his body] 

  Anck Su Namun : [gasping and wheezing] 

  Ardeth Bay : Anck Su Namun's soul had come back from the dead.

  [Imhotep shouting in Ancient Egyptian to stab] 

  Ardeth Bay : , but Pharaoh's bodyguards had followed Imhotep and stopped him before the ritual could be completed.

  Imhotep : [Imhotep watches Anck Su Namun's soul dying, flying off, diving into the water, and he shouts out] 

• Ardeth Bay : [speaking Arabian]  The Creature remains undiscovered.

  Arabian Soldier : [speaking Arabian]  And what of this one?

  Rick : [runs up the hill and sees some strange Arabian Soldiers, then runs away] 

  Arabian Soldier : [speaking Arabian]  Should we kill him?

  Ardeth Bay : [speaking Arabian]  No. The desert will kill him.
