To save her father from death in the army, a young maiden secretly goes in his place and becomes one of China's greatest heroines in the process.
In Mulan (1998), Eddie Murphy voices Mushu, a Dragon. In DreamWorks Animation's Shrek (2001) and it's sequels, Murphy's character Donkey falls in love with a Dragon (whose vocal effects were provided by Frank Welker, the voice of Mushu's Companions Krikee and Khan in this film).
Who are you?
Mushu: Who am I? Who am I? I am the guardian of lost souls! I am the powerful, the pleasurable, the indestructible Mushu!
Mushu: Oh. Ha, ha. Pretty hot, huh?
During the finale, Yao uses a banana as a part of his disguise. However, the banana is the sort of yellow and thin specimen a modern Western audience would recognize. This kind of banana cultivar would not be bred until centuries later. The bananas available in China in the era the movie is set in would have been rounder and of a different color.

In at least one showing on ABC, the Grandmother's line of "Would you like to stay forever?" (said from off-screen to Captain Li Shang towards the end of the film) was removed from the soundtrack for some reason.
