Issued on DVD in France ( French language only, no subtitles of any kind ) during the year 2006, this is an excellent 12-hour family saga shot over several episodes on the South-Eastern coast of France at a place called "Le Lavandou" and its surroundings. Pierre Van Eck and his erstwhile wife Hélène, played by Mireille Darc, run a luxury riviera hotel called "La Réserve". During the series, a succession of love, lies, jealousy, deceit and murder keep the spectator riveted to his or her seat for most of the time. Most of the action takes place near to a famous hotel close to the beach. Mireille Darc, Pierre Vaneck, Amélie Pick, Alain Doutey and Josy Bernard are excellent. The story is far too long and intricate to resume here. I would be very curious to know if this has been shown anywhere outside France, perhaps under the title of "Burnt Hearts". During the series, Hélène ( Mireille Darc ) loses her sight in an accident. This is a pretext for a second series called "Les Yeux d'Hélène", also available currently on DVD but not in my opinion as good as the original series. The theme music is also noteworthy and relatively memorable. This series is something to put on TV on a series of rainy and cold winter afternoons and is very engrossing once you get into the body of the story !!

dingsherry18 June 2005The series has been shown in China, of course in a translated(dubbed) version. Good story, good actors(actresses) and good music. Unfortunately I have no chance to know the whole story, no beginning and no ending, only a part in the middle I have watched, but got a strong impression of it.
Just like all translated versions, we usually have no idea of the original title of the movie. Recently I obtained the music from an album of Vladimir Cosma, and it was the familiar music spurred me to search and verify the film title here. Also hope it will be issued on DVD and can be found in China someday. -
Hello everyone ! I must comment this TV - series with some words . I can do it only positively ! This is a marvelous production ! It is due to the actresses ( first of all : Amelie Pick ) , actors who could played their roles fantastically , and also to the screenplay writer ! It was shown on the television in Hungary a couple of years ago . " Burnt hearts " could become my all time most favorite TV - series ! The eyes of Helene was the title of the second part of this series . This was also excellent ! This is just the reason why i would so very like to do have it ! Well , if anybody does have this series or knows that where to download it , get or buy it , please let me know it ! ! ! Thank you in advance ! ! ! I am waiting for your comments and help !
