I enjoyed watching State Coroner when it debuted in the late 90s and it was a compelling series (it ran for 2 seasons) at first. It was "devised" (a synonym for "created" I guess in TV parlance) by Michael Harvey, who based on his website is "UK-born...has worked in Film & TV for 35 years with 75 hours of writing, script editing/story producing credits on most Australian broadcasters including Dr. Blake, Dirt Game, State Coroner, Janus, Phoenix, Home and Away, A Country Practice and Prisoner/Cell Block H."

I read that when the first episode of State Coroner was presented to the Channel 10 bigwigs, they demanded edits and refocus, and it worked, because the editing and storytelling was quite impressive. Bob Baines (who was in Pizza Hut commercials - it pays the bills) was the Deputy State Coroner who was a bit aggrieved when the State Coroner (played with dignity, poise and grit by the late Wendy Hughes) was appointed. But she earned Bob's respect.

I didn't really enjoy season 2, but I think there's a window of opportunity for a State Coroner reboot. With Offspring coming to an end soon, how about State Coroner making a comeback?
