  • "12 steden, 13 ongelukken", as a drama series, was often a bit overly dramatised really. There were some brilliant episodes too, but a majority was a car wreck waiting to happen. For obvious reasons :o) As a campaign against reckless driving though, I'm sure it served its purpose. The story was always split between two parties in a car crash, then leading up to it in the space of a half hour. Viewers could identify more and more with the characters as their story unfolded, which of course made the eventual accident a right shocker. However, as you'd see more episodes of the series you'd know the outcome and be less and less interested in how it came to pass. The effect therefore waned, and the series were cancelled. It's a shame that nowadays 'traffic warnings' come from spectacular shows with car chases, wheel clamps and lots of angry police officers in it. "12 steden" was a great idea, for beginning actors too.
