  • Years after seeing this "illegal" movie in the US and so much irony became apparent. Lords has only one legal adult movie and this isn't the one. Its not what's expected of "kiddie porn". "Beverly Hills Copulator" starred "Tracy Lords" and made by the Traci Lords Company. It's one among three ventures with her business partner and then boyfriend, "Scott Bell" aka Stephen Cartier who is really Stewart Dell! Lords was supposedly done with porn until she met Dell. Of all the TLC projects, "Traci, I Love You" gets most of the press. It being her only legal adult movie in the US and the source of so many suspicions after she temporarily sold the rights to it and keeping the name she first used in porn.

Lords has acknowledged her use of the fake ID and that she wasn't forced into doing porn movies, at the same time blasting what she sees as an unrepentant porn industry in its sexual exploitation of her. See, after finding out she was underaged…the porn industry could have at least apologized instead of attacking her for costing them so much money when it fact they got richer from the scandal's publicity…She argues. The multiple victimization of Lords is not in question…putting so much on the hands of the unknowing pornographers, one feels, is absurd.

In the 1998 "E! True Hollywood Story" about Lords, Ron Jeremy said people joked about working for Traci after she put them out of business or something like that. Again, she exhibited an astuteness that fooled so many. She co-produced three of her movies, and perhaps came with her own ideas. Lords said on a 2001 Loveline appearance that it was "their True Hollywood Story" 'cause it had interviews with some "idiots" who claimed to have known her intimately. She said E! had contact her but she didn't want any part of it. While there were many book offers, she didn't want to add to the many things already out there about her. She did REMEMBER a lot, though, to put it in her 2003 autobiography. Lords even remembered enough to write about "Tim North" (Jim South) of the World Modeling Agency whom she apparently despises for being a "foul human being".

    The plot goes...

After the upbeat music with the yellow credits on blue background, viewers see the following ...Los Angeles, California. May 1986. Then comes this: "DRUGS and PROSTITUTION have claimed many. But this time Its one too many." Police officer, Michelle Leon (Traci) and Grace Fischer(Kristara) are two cops who go undercover to infiltrate the prostitution ring of criminal mastermind Stan Gold. Michelle works for "New York Vice" but is on "vacation" to find her sister. Secrets? Lies? Sexual Exploitation!? Sounds familiar sounding. Almost echoing what was to come outside the "real world" of porn. It's a wonder none of the conspiracy theorists seized on this…guess "Traci, I love you" filled that role. So traci Lords plays an undercover cop trying to bring down a brothel which sexually exploits women—and find her little sister whose name is Michelle too. Her sister's name was found in a book during a police raid. All happening in May 1986! Michelle arrives (Lords) at an airport (LAX ?) and is conservatively dressed in a white blouse, red jacket and skirt. She gets in her red car.Was that the 1967 convertible she bought with the $5000 dollar "Penthouse" check from Jim South? She went to a crime scene where she meets Grace, who works for "Beverly Hills Vice". From Grace's narration, the two women wanted to be movie stars—the other kind! But they are cops and see "the other side." Cause for "every bright light, there's an opposite sinister black hole that sucked up everything it touched." So Michelle left and is back to find her sister who's a "high-society hooker". They plot to go undercover at a mansion where the illicit activities are. In doing so the women have sexual encounters with Gold's associates and each other.

Grace wore a tight fitting leopard-print clothes, and Michelle was in a black leather outfit. They meet the man who finds new women for the brothel, Buddy Love. He gets intimate with Kristara as Traci looks on before "business" with Steve Drake nearby. Traci was being a 'sexual terrorist'…apparently when she made her distinctive gutturals moans… With access to the mansion, Lords gets it on alone with Roco Balboa who is a bodyguard. He finishes in a small glass. Later, Michelle listens in as Steve Drake have fun with a bottomless Nikki Randall (the sister?). Buddy Love (Stan Gold) gets serviced by two women, one of them is Bunnie Blake.

Alone together, Grace starts on Michelle (traci). Where most of scenes takes place in the context of the plot, there's an intercut of a dreamlike scene with Lords and another Asian female with similar resemblance to Kristara Barrington. Further "investigation" suggests that it's Kyoko Izoma in a scene from "Traci Takes Tokyo" (another product of the Traci Lords Company.) Lords dominates the action with licks, kisses and a toy for mutual pleasure. The scene returns to Kristara in control of Traci with Steve Drake getting ready to join—but Nikki points a gun at him and arrests Stan Gold too.

Where porn goes this was a good movie. Its hard to find, which makes it as much valuable for its nostalgic importance.
  • I will not editorialize here about Traci and her career here. I'm just reviewing the film itself. Traci only has one really good scene with Jason Brooks who plays Rocco, the Bodyguard. She plays an undercover investigator who along with her partner, Grace (Kristara Barrington) pose as hookers so they can rescue her sister who has fallen into the evil grips of cocaine dealers. The sex scenes for the most part are too repetitive. Rear entry is explored so often your own might feel sore after awhile. Traci has a few hollering and screaming scenes that seem more painful than arousing this time around. There's just an awful bondage scene with handcuffs and pinchers, it doesn't come off too well either. A birthday is mentioned and a few comic bits relieve some boredom. Really, it seemed like a costume revenge orgy to celebrate her big eighteenth birthday and possibly a plan to retire from an overworked career in porn.

i was in junior high and me and a friend went back to his house after school. there was a tape in the VCR so we watched it. his parents had rented a porno and left it in the machine. it was "beverly hills copulator" i don't remember anything about it really other than being blown away how hot the 3-way scene was with Traci, some other broad and some other dude. the two broads handcuffed the dude to the chair, ripped off his clothes and proceeded to go off on his c**k while he was handcuffed in a chair. it was hot, but then again i was 13 so maybe it sucked. my friend, not wanting to get in trouble was going to rewind the tape and then stop it at the point we came in on, so we wouldn't get found out by his parents. However, we were so enthralled with Traci that we watched to the end of the tape. then we panicked and rewound the tape to some random point of the movie. needless to say we were quickly found out and his parents never left a tape in the VCR again. i'd love to see the movie again sometime.

According to her repeated testimony and hardly credible autobiography. Traci claims to have no memory of her porn career, except that she was drunk and coerced into doing it, and that she was screwed up about sex all around. Perhaps only the latter is true, but how could someone not recall having her own production company. She was at the top of her biz and could write her own ticket basically. That is how she brilliantly conceived a way out of IRS prosecution and violent retribution by her former producers.

By the way, this is one of 2 TLC videos I have seen, and the standards of production are not that much better . The costumes are okay, garish in fact. It was the 80s and big hair and glittery clothing are essential. Still, if you have the chance, do see this rarity from the annals of porn history.
