When Mr Webber first goes back up after 35 years he meets a transvestite prostitute who says to him "Like the song says, a country boy can survive". The song he was referring to was "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr..
Do we just go on up?
Calvin: No, son. Now is the time we must be at our most cautious. We wait for night.
Helen: Oh, shit!
Calvin: Helen Thomas Webber! Maybe we have been down here a little too long. Pardon her French, son.
Adam: "Shit" is French?
Calvin: Well, it's archaic French. ...
The whole premise of the Movie is based on Adam being raised in a pristine environment and taught only the finest manners. During the introduction to Heather at 1 hour and 13 minutes into the movie, Adam extends his hand in friendship. This is completely out of character for any gentleman. He awaits the lady to take the first move - always. It is the lady's prerogative to offer her hand or not. (This custom may be different for different countries..)
New Line created two version of the film. One "domestic version" for the US at 111 minutes and an "international version", running at 103 minutes. Most european DVD releases (such as the German and Italian ones) include the scenes deleted from the film as bonus material.
