By the humble standard of Willis Kent productions, this is a fairly interesting western with enough action to satisfy the fans – so long as you don't read the first sentence of the plot summary on IMDb. If you read that sentence, don't bother watching the movie. At least twenty to thirty minutes are spent theorizing in the movie as to why things are happening the way they are – and the revelation in the last fifteen minutes or so certainly came as a big surprise to me! The actor who swings the surprise is deliberately kept back. In fact, I don't remember seeing his name in the front credits at all. Anyway, while it lacks a well-known male lead (Buck Coburn is actually Gene Alsace and Montie Montana actually isn't in the movie at all even though the credit titles proclaim this effort as "A Montie Montana Western"), it does present the lovely Marion Shilling heading a cast of familiar faces including Ben Corbett, Nelson McDowell and Bud Osborne plus, of course, Lafe McKee. There's a bit of action, a bit of dull western scenery, and a novelettish plot which will certainly keep you guessing so long as you remember NOT to read IMDb's plot summary. Available on a very good Grapevine DVD.

I have not watched many B westerns, but my thoughts are it was genuine. Maybe the plot is a bit thin and some of the acting was a little bit off, but they were real horses, real outdoors, and real stunts. Impressive. Especially his vault onto the horse for the finale. I watched it twice. I think the whole plot line of the love story and their story is great. Sheep rancher, not as much, but one can overlook in this context and low budget. I watched a 16mm print, have not seen the DVD, I assume the same.
