Based upon American/Canadian author Richmond Hobson Jr.'s three memoirs, "Grass Beyond the Mountains" (1951), "Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy" (1955) and "The Rancher Takes a Wife" (1961) which recalled his early years in British Columbia and the hardships he and his partner, Panhandle Phillips, endured in establishing their ranch during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
