Blair, a fighter pilot, joins an interstellar war to fight the evil Kilrathi who are trying to destroy the universe.
The characters who originally appeared in the computer games are: Blair, Maniac, Angel, Paladin, Admiral Tolwyn, Hunter, Knight and Lt. Cdr. "Bossman" Chen (the unseen dead pilot whose name is written on the side of the fighter Blair sits in when he first meets Angel). Captain Sansky, Commander Gerald, Rosie Forbes, and Obutu weren't in the games. Other things carried over from the games include the ship names TCS Tiger Claw (called the Tiger's Claw in the game), TCS Concordia, Diligent, Snakeir, Rapier, Broadsword, Hornet, and Dralthi.
You've got balls.
Maniac: You should see 'em.
Rosie Forbes: Mine are bigger.
Maniac: I've been told size doesn't matter.
Rosie Forbes: She lied.
When Blair jumps into the Sol system tailed by the Snakir the scene switches to the waiting Concordia Battle group the marquee text gives their position as being in low orbit of Venus but the planet they appear to be orbiting is clearly Mars not Venus.
Voice of Merlin: ?
Merlin was also mean't to be Blair's private digital companionmentor. The character was supposed to add comic relief to the film but it was decided that Maniac could fill that position, so Merlin was relegated to a background computer system onboard the fighters.
