riveting holocaust miniseries
In the 80s, there was an all-night syndicated package of foreign TV shows on some cable channel, and they showed this eight-part German miniseries about a little girl whose world slowly tailspins during the Nazi era as she flees from stranger to stranger after her family disappears. On screen, the title was given the translated subtitle "A Square of Sky" although "A Piece of Heaven" or "A Piece of Sky" makes more sense, the point being that at one point she could only see the sky thru an attic window. Anyway, it was spellbinding, told entirely from her point of view. I missed the first and last episodes!
