Trivia

The name of the company for which Neo works is Metacortex. The roots of this word are meta-, which according to Webster's means "going beyond or higher, transcending," and -cortex, which is "the outer layer (boundary) of gray matter surrounding the brain." Thus, Metacortex is "transcending the boundaries of the brain," which is precisely what Neo proceeds to do.

Quotes

Cypher: Yeah.
Trinity: Is everything in place?
Cypher: You weren't supposed to relieve me.
Trinity: I know, but I felt like taking a shift.
Cypher: You like him, don't you? You like watching him.
Trinity: Don't be ridiculous.
Cypher: We're gonna kill him. You understand that?
Trinity: Morpheus believes he is the one...

Goofs

When Neo gets the message on his computer to "follow the white rabbit", there is a knock on the door. When Neo opens the door, its clearly visible that Neo is wearing lenses of different colors. One eye is jet black and the other one looks green.

Crazy Credits

The opening Warner Bros. logo is green on a gray sky, and the opening Village Roadshow logo is green.

Alternate Versions

In the UK, 10 seconds of footage was cut from the cinema version to attain a more commercial "15" certificate. The BBFC asked for cuts to 8 head-butts - in the fight between Morpheus and Agent Smith (1 and 3 respectively), and in the subway fight between Neo and Agent Smith (2 each). All UK video and DVD releases featured the same cut print and, even though the commentary was left off the first UK DVD release for this reason, the version featured in the 'Attache Case' box set includes the commentary but still features the cut version. The cuts were finally waived in 2006.
