Even with the new 4k hdr these the graphics and action scenes area holding up to the test of time. It not only looks better than mainstream movies today, you're hard pressed to tell what was added in visual effects and what was happening at the time of the shoot.

The entire tower scene, not just the bottom level, is a thing of beauty. From all of the rain and explosions and bits flying around that you can see clearly now in 4K, to the generated explosion when the bomb hits the basement. Just gorgeous. Give it a watch, or a rewatch. It's worth it even now more than ever.

Trivia

All scenes that take place within the Matrix have a green tint, as if watching them through a computer monitor, while scenes in the real world have a blue tint. Blue was also used at a minimum in the Matrix scenes, since the directors thought blue was more of a real world color (despite, ironically, blue being the least often occurring color in nature). The fight scene between Morpheus and Neo, which is neither in the real world, nor in the Matrix, is tinted yellow.

Quotes

Cypher: Yeah.
Trinity: Is everything in place?
Cypher: You weren't supposed to relieve me.
Trinity: I know, but I felt like taking a shift.
Cypher: You like him, don't you? You like watching him.
Trinity: Don't be ridiculous.
Cypher: We're gonna kill him. You understand that?
Trinity: Morpheus believes he is the one...

Goofs

When Neo meets Trinity for the first time in the nightclub she is close to him talking in his ear. Even though she pauses between sentences the shot from the back of Trinity shows that her jaw is still moving during the pauses.

Crazy Credits

The opening Warner Bros. logo is green on a gray sky, and the opening Village Roadshow logo is green.

Alternate Versions

In the UK, 10 seconds of footage was cut from the cinema version to attain a more commercial "15" certificate. The BBFC asked for cuts to 8 head-butts - in the fight between Morpheus and Agent Smith (1 and 3 respectively), and in the subway fight between Neo and Agent Smith (2 each). All UK video and DVD releases featured the same cut print and, even though the commentary was left off the first UK DVD release for this reason, the version featured in the 'Attache Case' box set includes the commentary but still features the cut version. The cuts were finally waived in 2006.
