A computer hacker learns from mysterious rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against its controllers.
For the subway scene, the set was first planned to be shot in a real subway station, but due to the amount of the actions and the wire works, the decision was made to shoot on a set. The set was built around an existing train storage facility, which had real train tracks.
Trinity: Is everything in place?
Cypher: You weren't supposed to relieve me.
Trinity: I know, but I felt like taking a shift.
Cypher: You like him, don't you? You like watching him.
Trinity: Don't be ridiculous.
Cypher: We're gonna kill him. You understand that?
Trinity: Morpheus believes he is the one...
In the scenes after Neo lands on the roof from the helicopter, you see the helicopter in the background with the main rotors spinning. In the next shot, Neo's back is to the camera with the shadow of the helicopter on the roof of the building, but there are no helicopter rotors fixed, or spinning.
The opening Warner Bros. logo is green on a gray sky, and the opening Village Roadshow logo is green.
Home video and television versions released after 2004, most notably The Ultimate Matrix Collection box set, and the 2010 Blu-Ray release, have a different color scheme from the 1999 theatrical and home video release. The real-world scenes are given a blue tint and scenes within the Matrix have a heavy green tint.
