During the XXX video era of porn, Joe Sarno realized that fans only wanted to see beautiful girls & hot sex. That's all we get in THE DEEP INSIDERS, with its token "storyline" tacked on.

Cara Lott toplines as Wall Street trader Laura Longtree, but mysteriously her picture is completely omitted from both the front & back DVD box covers. Apparently her fanbase (not me) has faded away over the years.

She literally phones in the meager story, calling her mysterious boss J.R. (never seen or part of the movie proper) with updates on her plans to take over Knutson-Boltz Pump Co. in Brooklyn. She has bought up 21% of the stock and is conspiring to get control of 15% owned by the current company head Mark Boltz, the 25% owned by heiress Priscilla Knutson-Finch and the 20% from small stockholders overseen by ambitious lawyer Dorothy Seeman (no relation to porn vet John Seeman).

Gimmick is that the company is up for a huge government contract, and Laura seduces government auditor John Norton in order to ensure it's approved. Rest of the film is a series of poorly staged seductions including lesbian scenes featuring two of Sarno's favorite props, both a plug-in and a portable vibrator belonging to Laura, one of which is later stolen (!) by a satisfied tryster.

Besides Lott, both Rachel Ashley as Priscilla and Robin Lee as Dorothy display alluring breasts and nipples, while the male cast (given almost zero lines to recite) are all well-hung. Fans of Sarno's softcore movies will be surprised to see how he takes his already favoring (a la George Cukor in mainstream cinema) actresses over actors to the extreme here, with the guys' faces barely shown, rendering them completely anonymous providers of the phallus. Sounds like another master's thesis in the making.

Made by Sarno (pseudonym: Eric Andersson) for producer Don Walters (pseud.: Howard A. Howard), THE DEEP INSIDERS is a real cheapie, with phony looking interior sets that are so brightly lit that the actors look like they're really sweating. Throw in a couple of token transition shots of Lott walking around on the streets of Brooklyn and you have a basically all-sex video. Crappy ending ensures that we get the "who cares?" message.
