Despite that Akira Toriyama considers this series as no canon to the original story, he still added some Easter eggs and tributes to this series in Dragon Ball Super (2015).
No matter how much a monkey evolves, it's still a monkey.
Goku finds Super Android 17 by tracking his Ki. Androids don't have a Ki.
There are 2 versions of the opening credits. The first one, played for the first half of the series, ends with Kid Goku, Pan, and Trunks standing together on an adventure to get the Dragon Balls. The second, played over the latter half of the series, ends with Super Saiyan 4 Goku standing alone. Other than these differences, the sequences are the same.
The German television broadcast version removed 17 entire episodes, including most of the series' most important fight scenes, such as Goku's first fight with Baby, Uub's escape from Baby's stomach, Goku's fight with Super 17, the Shadow Dragons Sixinglong and Sanxinglong, and the entire battle against the ultimate villain, Super-Yixinglong. The missing parts of the story were recounted by the narrator.
