- A lack of empathy for others. Tony does show genuine care and concern for his family, friends and animals. He does sometimes feel guilt when certain people are hurt as a result of his actions and tries to do something to make it right. However, he shows little-to-no regard for people outside of his circle.
- It must also be noted that Tony's empathy for others including his family varies according to how much of an inconvenience they are to him. The clearest example of this is the cost of A.J.'s post-suicide-attempt hospitalisation. This "I love them as long as they are not posing a problem for me" love is common among people with Antisocial Personality Disorder.
- Tony not only acts impulsively throughout the series, he also fails to learn from his actions regardless of the severity of the consequences. He rarely discusses or considers the consequences of his actions, potential or natural. The only person in the series who is capable of talking Tony out of acting on the first idea that comes into his head is Silvio.
- Tony makes his living in part by controlling others with aggressive behaviour of the threat of aggressive behaviour. He also frequently "takes his work home with him", to use a therapist term. That is, his aggressive behaviour comes out at home in response to leftover anxiety from the pressures of his work.
- Tony uses charm (yes, he does have it), intelligence, or charisma to manipulate people. Whether it is the women in his life including Dr. Melfi or Carmela, or people he does business with such as the Jewish hoteliers, Tony's charm is generally seen when violence or intimidation is either unnecessary or counterproductive.
- Tony frequently makes mistakes that endanger himself, his family, and his mob family. He tries to change his behaviour in the wake of the consequences, but it is never long before he falls back into his old patterns of behaviour. He also has never met a same mistake he could not make at least twice.
- Lying for personal gain. While certainly not exclusive to people with APD, it's something Tony does constantly.
- Shifting blame. In the rare occasion Tony admits he was wrong or made a mistake, he immediately shifts the blame to someone else. Often the person he's admitting it to. For example, when Bobby and Tony get in a fight. Tony says to Carmella "You warned me not to drink so much last night. I didn't listen. You should have insisted."
- Tendencies towards violence. Tony kills without remorse and will often spend time talking about ways that the murders were justified, regardless of whether they were justifiable or not. His temper is explosive and extremely difficult for him to control. He is also violent towards people who love him, specifically Carmela and A.J., and it is interesting in light of the Meadow Is Tony's Guardian Angel theory that he is never physically violent to her. He does lose his temper with her on a few occasions, but not nearly to the same extent as with Carmela and A.J..
- Tony knows and understands the morality of his actions. He just clearly could not care less.
- As shown during The Many Saints Of Newark, Tony also shows fairly compelling evidence of having a conduct disorder before the age of fifteen.
The word sociopath, whilst still in use, has been sidelined by a condition called Antisocial Personality Disorder. As described in the DSM-5, it is characterised by a disregard for the feelings, safety, and rights of others. Tony ticks many of the boxes for Antisocial Personality Disorder.
(Note that this comparison of Tony's behaviour with the diagnostic criteria for APD will disregard any unreliable narrator ideas and treat everything shown on screen as if it occurred exactly as shown.)
Tony's behaviours that line up with a diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder are as follows:

"No-shows" are contract jobs, such as construction work, where a person is put on the payroll, with a time card that is clocked in and out for them each day. However, the person never actually shows up to the job. This gives them a steady flow of legitimate income and shows that they are gainfully employed. Likewise they also mention "no works" which means they show up to the job site, but don't actually do any physical work.
No. The Sopranos premiered in January of 1999 and Analyse This released in March of 1999. It was simply coincidence that they had a similar premise of a mobster seeing a psychiatrist. The show even makes reference to the movie as a small joke in season 2.
The theme is a shortened version of the Chosen One mix of the song "Woke Up This Morning" by Alabama 3.
A prequel film entitiled 'The Many Saints of Newark' was released in 2021. James Gandolfini's real life son Michael Gandolfini plays a teenage Tony Soprano. The film mainly focuses on Tony's mentor and Christopher's father, Dickie Moltisanti and his relationship with the DiMeo crime family of which Tony's father, Johnny and Uncle Junior are members.
As for a follow-up to the series, David Chase has said that he wanted to make a film. But he cannot find a way to properly do the series justice. So until/unless he finds a way; the answer is no. With many of the major characters not surviving the final season and the untimely death of James Gandolfini, and Tony Sirico passing away; it can be assumed a film will never happen.
When asked, David Chase said "You'll have to ask HBO. They own the IP." Meaning that ultimately it's up to HBO if they continue the Sopranos story even if Chase wasn't interested.

Christopher's father, Dickie Moltisanti was a soldier in Johnny Soprano's crew and was very close to Tony Soprano. Tony reminisces that Dickie was like a big brother to him and so, when Dickie died while Chris was still young, Tony looked out for Chris, affectionately referring to him as his nephew. However, Tony is, technically, not Christopher's uncle.
Tony and Carmela Soprano are connected to Chris via three separate family relationships:
Christopher's late father, Dickie Moltisanti, was Carmela's first cousin, as Dickie's mother and Carmela's father are siblings. This means Chris is Carmela's first cousin, once removed.
Christopher's mother Joanne, whose maiden name is Blundetto, is Al Blundetto's sister. Al Blundetto's wife, Quintina, is Livia Soprano's sister and Tony Soprano's maternal aunt. Thus, Al and Quintina Blundetto, who are Tony Blundetto's parents, are uncle and aunt to both Tony Soprano and Chris. Accordingly, Tony Soprano and Chris are both first cousins to Tony Blundetto, but not to each other.
Adriana told her FBI handler Robyn Sanseverino. that technically Christopher and Tony are cousins. Christopher's mother Joanne Blundetto is Tony's maternal cousin via a distant blood relation when the family was still in Italy. Tony confirmed this when he named Christopher his successor and said Christopher would bring the family into the 21st century saying Paulie and Silvio "aren't my blood".
Woke up this morning, got yourself a gun
Your mama always said you'd be the chosen one
She said yeah, one in a million you got gun shine. But you were born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eye
And you woke up this morning, and all that love had gone. Your papa never told you about right and wrong. But you lookin' good baby I believe that you're feelin' fine, shame about it. Born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eye so sing it now
Woke up this morning. Got a blue moon in your eye
Woke up this morning the world turned upside down, lord but things ain't been the same since the blues walked into town. But you one in a million 'cause you got that shot gun shine, shame about it. Born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes
Woke up this morning. Got yourself a gun. Got yourself a gun. Got yourself a gun.
