Strike Up the Band (1930)
** 1/2 (out of 4)
The Fleischer Studio produced a number of these animated short films where the "bouncing ball" would have audience members singing together. This here is a rather interesting short as it features two sailors making their way through a rough sea. What's interesting is that some of the music cues would later be used in the Popeye series so that makes this of interest to fans of that series. The animation itself is good as you'd expect from a Fleischer short but the song is quite entertaining as well. The two characters certainly have no comparison to Popeye himself but fans of the series will still want to check this out.
