This was an X-rated take on the 1992 mainstream film "Mistress." Writer Cash Markman intentionally "borrowed" ideas from the latter, then called his script "Leading Ladies." The distributor of this movie didn't like that title, and, through a strange and risky coincidence, changed the name to "The Mistress," unaware that there was already a movie called "Mistress," with the same plot. Both movies were unsuccessful, and flew under the radar, and no one was sued.

Dyanna Lauren got the box cover, even though she is the only female cast member not to be paired off with a male lover (she only does girl/girl here), and does not figure that strongly into the plot, since she is not anyone's "mistress."
