Cash Markman used his pseudonym Bill Dollars on this one, since the script was kept short, as was the shoot (a one-day wonder). Title of script was "House Dick," and the setting was in a hotel. Director Enright changed location, then the title. The new title, which had nothing to do with the story, was chosen to appeal to fans of Asian-themed adult movies.
The private dick in the script is named Sam Laid, a salute to Sam Spade, the famous 1940's gumshoe of pulp fiction. This movie was not conceived to be of Asian theme, or to have a black actor playing the Bogart-like P.I. The new direction in casting, and the release title - although there were no trains in this movie, or dancing - was a play on the popular ethnic music program "Soul Train."
