The Public Entertainment Censorship Board ('DCDP'), the official censorship body during the Brazilian military regime between 1972 and 1988, demanded that the telenovela be aired after 10pm and found 'inappropriate' that the plot addressed topics such as "a family breakdown generated by the separation of couples" and "the situation of free love", since the protagonist was a single mother.
