Philip J. Fry, a pizza guy, is accidentally frozen in 1999 and thawed out New Year's Eve 2999.
Zapp Brannigan's portrait in his Captain's quarters was based on the famous White House portrait of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. They are both in the same distinctive pose, arms crossed against the chest and solemnly looking downward.
But going through a divorce together, you can't pretend that didn't bring us closer together.
The elements Bender claims to be constructed out of change throughout the series (though given Bender's nature, it's possible he's lying). This became an in-joke amongst the writers in later episodes.
The production company logo shown at the very end of the show is "30th Century Fox".
Originally, one episode had a scene where Fry pulls down his pants and moons the business magnate Mom (of Mom's Friendly Robots). Her original dialogue was, "You call that an anus?", but it only appeared in closed captioning and was redubbed with "You call that a pressed ham?".
