    Warning: Spoilers
This movie takes off from where the very popular Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana ends, though it is the predecessor of the most remembered version of the Ramayana-it's television series. It was also recreated by Sagar in Uttar Ramayana.

The movie may not match modern sensibilities, but it is very true to the epic. I found it difficult to relate to it myself, being a woman. I watched it for my love of Indian mythology and found a very artistically depicted era with acting that evokes emotions, and a pace that is well thought out. The intricacies of Sage Valmiki's restarting of writing the tale, and his daughter's admiration of Ram Rajya the epic are very interestingly woven into a story. I only wish that the end scene of Seeta returning to Mother Earth would have been elaborated further.

Nonetheless, a heartfelt retelling of the classic.
