Ramayan, Circus, and Mahabharat have made a comeback on screen, and we are loving it. Here are the other shows which these TV actors wish would come back.
Amrita Prakash:?I think we had some beautiful shows on television in the 90s. There are some wonderful shows that I have grown up watching and performing in, which influenced me as a performer and a person.
I feel blessed to have been part of television during its golden age, in the late 90s and early 2000s- with shows like 'Rishtey' and 'star bestsellers' - which were completely story-centric. As opposed to the Trp-centric storyline we have today, back then every story was spun and told so beautifully, with performances that moved the soul. How I wish we would only bring back these shows to re watch but also to remake. I miss being a part of that wondrous era in Indian television.

Actor Jisshu Sengupta, who is balancing a film career in multiple languages and is geared up for his sci-fi web series "Skyfire", says slowly but surely Bengali cinema is reaching out to the national audience as the theatrical release of regional films has expanded.
Bengali cinema has had an impact at international film festivals with the work of iconic filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, and Ritwik Ghatak among others, apart from movies by filmmakers like Rituparno Ghosh, Aparna Sen, and Goutam Ghose or Kaushik Ganguly and Srijit Mukerji. The makers of period drama San Pachhattar have decided to incorporate the speech given by India's first lady Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Set in the era of emergency, the film stars Kay Kay Menon in the lead.
In 1975 Indira Gandhi had imposed emergency in India and the country came to know about it via an announcement at an unscheduled early hour's speech of Indira Gandhi at All India Radio. This Indira Gandhi's deceleration of speech has been used in Kay Kay Menon's forthcoming release San Pachhattar. This is the first time where this speech that was given by Indira Gandhi at Air in the year 1975 is used in the film as a song. "The audio rights of the famous Indira Gandhi Emergency speech is taken from All India Radio and the video right is taken from Film Division of India as they are the sole rights holder," said producer Kabir Lovee.

A new genre of cinema was created by the duo of Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani with Dil Chahta Hai, and they followed it up with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the underlining idiom of the genre defined by its urbanity, angst and problems of loneliness. 4 years after Znmd, the duo is coming up with Dil Dhadkne Do, directed by Zoya Akhtar, which is more of a cruise film, and supposedly a film about a dysfunctional Punjabi family. Quite a lot of publicity is being created for the film but would it be able to live up to the hype when it releases tomorrow?
Some reality check- in the interregnum from Znmd and Ddd Hindi cinema has moved along and it has gone native, as also local. The locations being more rural, real and less urban, manifest from the 3 most successful films of the year so far, NH10, Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

Smoke-filled hazy but hectic frames jostle for supremacy in Anurag Kashyap’s most stylish film to date.
So far all his gangland gaathas were fiercely homespun. Unkempt unwashed immoral sods firing their desi guns in the sugarcane fields of the Indian hinterland. The highlight of any Sherlock Holmes story is never the story itself. When you look deep enough, there is always a dot point path that will lead to the solution for any puzzle. The allure of the clues and the unconventional mix of various fields from science to mythology. These form the highlight. All that forms the brilliance that is Sherlock Holmes and the madness as well, is but the stepping stones for Detective Byomkesh Bakshi as written by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Even as Holmes overwhelmed the world, this Bengali Babu still had his own quirks and traits which made the stories and subsequent TV show so successful.
