David Zucker and Jerry Zucker were originally hired to write and direct this short but did not have time to do it so they offered it Trey Parker. It was not until the first day of filming that Parker learned that there was no script. The Zuckers had assumed that he would write it. Parker and and Matt Stone quickly came up with the ideas for each scene less than a hour before filming them.
But what if our gate was more Artist Friendly? We'll start with the guards. Those dark uniforms connote oppression and conformity.
